MMA is still in it's infancy compared to boxing. When boxing first started the payouts were about the same (of course speaking up to scale for the time). When the organizations start pitting their champions against each other then the big money starts coming in. Even then, people seem to forget that they don't only get paid by the organization. They get paid additional money by their sponsors as well as landing endorsement deals. The big money will happen

You don't avoid BJ Penn's ground game like the plague unless you're afraid of it. Nick avoided it. GSP vs Shields is obvious game-planning. Whether he was afraid of Shields ground or not, when you have a guy who's stand-up is as bad as Jake Shields, you keep him where he's weakest and beat him there. Shields was unable to get it to the ground, but GSP is a handful for anyone on the ground.

MMA is still in it's infancy compared to boxing. When boxing first started the payouts were about the same (of course speaking up to scale for the time). When the organizations start pitting their champions against each other then the big money starts coming in. Even then, people seem to forget that they don't only get paid by the organization. They get paid additional money by their sponsors as well as landing endorsement deals. The big money will happen

Sure he's faced Nick Diaz level submission artists, his name is BJ Penn. You may have noticed, Nick wanted nothying to do with BJ on the ground. And Matt Hughes ain't bad either. Jason Miller is much better than he's given credit for. I'd kinda rather see a finisher as champ. Nick is a finisher, but it's just so damn hard to like the guy. The reason we have every reason to doubt GSP will win by submission is because he's already faced and beaten as good or better than Nick Diaz on the ground. Ever since losing to Matt Hughes by armbar, GSP learned the lesson and learned it well. His submissions defense has survived elite BJJ fighters with ease. Nobody has come anywhere close to submitting GSP in 7 years. You think Diaz is better than Penn, Hughes, Miller, Serra or Shields?

You don't avoid BJ Penn's ground game like the plague unless you're afraid of it. Nick avoided it. GSP vs Shields is obvious game-planning. Whether he was afraid of Shields ground or not, when you have a guy who's stand-up is as bad as Jake Shields, you keep him where he's weakest and beat him there. Shields was unable to get it to the ground, but GSP is a handful for anyone on the ground.

He's smart, avoids taking risks. Nick always puts it on the line. He will this super bowl weekend too. Diaz might get 'dominated', but it's highly unlikely he takes an "epic ass beating". It puzzles me that you want such an exciting fighter to go down only because of his coarse personality, tbh.
