i've tried to mess with reason for the past years with endless tutorials speaking forever on the knitty gritty of things, which i may come back to later, but i never thought i would get my drums down. im halfway to making my first beat. thank you for an inviting and well explained tutorial!

wouldnt it be easier to just use a midi device to create the drum beats especially if you want some nice fills and want to play exactly whats in ur head and in correct timing?

great tutorial, i've got into a habit of putting sounds with multiple effects and tools into combinators to keep them together nice and tidy. any idea on how can do the "create pattern lane" when my redrum is in a combinator. it's not allowing me as it recognizes the instrument as a combinator and not a drum machine, i guess it would be the same problem with if someone had to do it with say an arpeggiator in a combinator.

@embralli diid you try drawing a pattern lane in the sequencer. this should not happen. all patterns are supposed to play, when you hit the button Run in the redrum device. Did you see if options like enable loop is disabled in the redrum device. lemme know, if you were able to do it. or else we can have a chat over phone to figure it out. you can mail me your # if you'd like.

@MrN03yeomana did u draw it on the pattern lane or on the regular midi lane? When you draw a pattern for redrum or dr.rex, pls click a new pattern lane and draw on that. Lemme know if there is some other issue, even after you've drawn the bars on to the pattern lane.

@XLilgrady14 did u use pattern lane to draw it on the sequencer or you just did copy to track from the redrum device? i think in the sequencer, if you double click the track, you can midi edit the sounds you don't want. did you try that? also see if you can disable the option of loop in the redrum device. sometimes it will still keep looping from the device rather from the track. lemme know

do you always have to record what your playing get the music done. Like in Fl studio you can draw your pattern out can you do that in reason 4 ? just wondering pretty much saying do you really need a midi instrument to use reason

@PdubzCrew yes, without any midi instrument, you can still have music going in reason 4 by drawing patterns on the midi editor. for redrum, its simply dragging the patterns to how many ever bars you many want. its easy as a breeze...

if you want to strip down the vocals and keep only the instrument, i'm sure lots of vocal removing softwares are out there..

They sound a little softer then the drums on my hard disc. I use megui with nero aac 256 kbs settings, 48.000 hz. do you have settings for me so that i don't loose quality on youtube in my music?

@JunitGuy I think you can get to do invidual mixes in NN-XTs sampler program. You can get to group the kits accordingly and send each one to a seperate mix channel. It is possible for sure but I've not tried that myself. May be I'll see if I can do a video on that :). Thanks for your comment.
