He says that each person is assigned a "jin", and a gaurdian angel (one on each shoulder...) but, Yes, not all humans have darkness in their hearts, but I guess that we all have to over come the darkness with each incarnation thus far, for those born into the Earthen plane...

the jinn(plural) or Genie (single) also are a race of people created from fire like humans where of clay. with free will and all, they can worship God or the shatan(a jinn). the jin can posses people, take on forms, enchant/posses items(like make a statue talk). the ghost, "gods" ,deamons, ufos and even "angels who people summon up" all are just jinn pretending.

People can kill the jinn and also seek refuge un God from them, infact we are told they are more afraid of us then we are of them.
