How about reading the Bible instead. It warns that these "spirit guides" are not humans, but demons. And that the dead cannot communicate, but are demons masquerading as humans.

Reading the Bible can be good. Jesus taught some pretty strong magic. He commanded the forces of darkness AND light! :)

He also claimed to be God. Some pretty strong claims there. Either He was lying, He was crazy or He told the truth. Research, think and decide.

I believe that he was telling the truth, no matter how poorly we have misinterpreted his message. I know that Christians have gotten things wrong in the way that I know a tree by its fruits. Most Christian churches and most versions of "the Bible" are like wolves in sheep's clothing. They are perversions of something that was perfect once.

Ten of thousands of scribes and scholars have translated the original Greek and Hebrew Bible into 15 different varieties of the Bible, which all attract those who find one or another easier to read and understand. And they all seem to give the same message and gospel; therefore I don't really have a problem with any of them. In this particular case, they all have negative things to say about dabbling with the spirit world, unless of course you are worshiping or praying to the Holy Spirit.
