I had a back stage pass on New Years Eve 1983/84 at the Calgary Saddle-dome. Streetheart and Helix opened the show for the Headpins. It was an awesome show. Even got a New Years kiss from Darby Mills in her dressing room while enjoying the cold cuts and veg platters.
Watch the blooper at 2:16 that they leave in the video.
I'm kind of new to the Headpins. I know they're Canadian & they had a female singer named Darby Mills. How well did they do in Canada? How many Top 40 pop hits did they score there? How many albums did they sell? They're just a one hit wonder here in America. What I've heard from them I like.
Great stuff! Here in Tokyo, we still dig the Headpins, although... all of you fans, check out ZAHALAN, a Canadian female rocker- who's style was nearly identical (but I'd say- better). She released only one CD in the late 80s (or around 1991 or so) in Canada. :) Canada had so many great bands in the late 80s/early 90s (Rude, Zahalan, Fury (I don't take no for an answer, one of the best hard rock anthems ever written), Killer Dwarfs (Stand tall!), Lee Aaron, Wall of silence... )
think this Drummers name is "berney" or "Burny" something. got a friend here in Reno named Mike Furlong that Knows him. but when i went up to BC, and was playing with a Rod Stewart impersonator, we did a gig with this band at a huge club in Vancouver called the 86th st. Music Hall. Headpins Headlined, and they had the Drummer from Loverboy, Matt Frenett on drums then. just think this guy in Vid is that "Bernie" guy. don't know his last name.
i like that chicks voice and those guys can sure shred the guitar!! I like that part where the mike stand slipped but he still sang into it down low! haha thats dedication!! awesome
She's all woman! I remember seeing them in 83', and as I recall she was wearing something like that opening scene. Left quite an impression on a testosterone-in-overdrive young teenager!
this guy could write awesome, this song has such a great pre chorus and chorus, haven't heard this in a long time, its sending chills up my spine, miss brian big time

@bucky468
I had the opportunity to see them and Saga and Q Riot together in a small auditorium in 83' in Roanoke, Va.
They were really tight and so wasn't Saga! Best concert I ever went to. The singer was a real looker.

@twq202 definately, such a shame to see this talent gone from us, well at least there is the memories & the music.

Brian MacLeod was the best...genius guitar playing,and song writing! His guitar
solo's always fit perfect in the song,and were comprised of many sentences built
with in the entire solo! Excellent,and great TONE! Edie Van Halen admired this
guitar player in the early 80's, which says everything!
