It prolly is more durable. I was starting a chainsaw drunk and after I pulled the string, the kickback + weight brought the spinning chain down right on my left leg.

Fortunately my 1g was in my pocket, so it took the blow, protecting my cell phone and my leg. There is a scar in the metal at the top now, but it still works flawlessly even despite having been hit with a chainsaw.

it's unfortunately a tradeoff...the 1st gen screen doesn't have the yellow tint that the 2nd gen does...and therefore the 1st looks better. but the 2nd gen has a MUCH faster processor, and doesn't have a jittery's that you sometimes get on games on the 1st gen.

Not necessarily...I don't think you knew, but there actually IS an app called TextFree for the iPod Touch, and it's only $6 on the app store for UNLIMITED texts. Of course, unless you jailbreak your iPod you don't even have to pay the $6. You can also call people on a jailbroken iPod. (only via wifi for both, obviously) but everyone has wifi these days...so...yeah, you got some flawed logic. A jailbroken iPod Touch is WAY better than an iPhone because you don't HAVE TO PAY MONTHLY BILLS.

i bought my 2g on ebay, u dont hav to bid, there are tons of touchs 2g for lik $199.99 with free shipping, and mine came 4 days later and looked brand new, no scratches at all. totally recommend it
