This is fun to watch! If I had never heard of Joe Falcaro and just happened to see him bowling, I'd guess that from his style, he averaged about 165. From the narrative in this, it's difficult to believe that someone as renown as Farlcaro did not even know how many steps he took to the foul line.
Well, I was CLOSE....not much was "updated", I believe, because, except for fashions worn in both, and some minor "tweaking", bowling really hadn't changed much inbetween the two releases.
There were two versions of Bowling Aces. One released in 1941. And this version, released in 1948. This version is a revision of the earlier 1941 version. While the 1948 version is very common, the '41 version is very rare. In 40 years of collecting I have only been able to come up of an incomplete print of the ;41 version.
This was originally released as a 16mm "home movie", from a well-known company who specialized in creating "sports reels", "newsreels" [especially their "News Parade" series], travelogues, and exciting moments from feature films in a one-reel format for "home projectors"....this reel apparently dates from around 1939.
Joe Falcaro is my great great uncle. Not kidding.

Joe Falcaro is my Great, Great Uncle. I spent some time as a kid at Falcaro's bowling alley. The hole family loves the legend!
