  • Yes, loved the books, can't say I'm entranced by the music though.

  • 1:30 Nice to see string players counting rest for a change

  • Perfect music to listen to while sitting under the moons and drinking a Tom Collins.

  • I came to this long before reading IQ84, but the book has been a welcome reminder to listen to this wonderful piece again.

  • I've been meaning to look this up for a while now, but it keeps slipping my mind...

Yes, I am one of the many people who've read 1Q84...

  • 1Q84 — I took Aomame's advice and I'm stretching while listening to this song. I recommend it!

  • Yes, less than halfway through 1Q84 and one mention too many drove me here to listen.

  • I didnt actually come here because of 1q84, though I love Murakami. Came here because it was played on radio 3 this morning!!

  • 1Q84 makes more sense now!

  • 1Q84..!!

  • 1Q84 is causing interest in classical music. How cool!

  • Followed the Little People here.

  • Starting the book and must must listen to this first before reading further

  • Same here, Murakami's 1Q84 lead me here, Aomame lead me here.

  • For me it was the opposite: this piece, that I've been loving since I was a child, brought me to Murakami's novel :D

Did you know that Milan Kundera's father was one of Janacek's best friends?

  • Me too! 1Q84 lead me to this piece. Now on Page 150...

  • I'm on page 110 of 1Q84. Right after Aomame read about the life of Janacek. I can't seem to put this book down!

  • on page 180 under tengo ...

  • I am now on page 103 of 1Q84 and the piece has come up again. I am hearing it for the first time as I begin to see the transition of the two protagonists to having some connection.

  • Of course, I just got around to listening to this because of 1Q84!

  • Awesome opening scene music for 1Q84 here. Really set's the cab drive vibe..

  • same here. finished part 1+2 and the book is amazing. you need to let it be. let it grasp you. totally give in, otherwise you may go on next 30 years thinkink "was it good?".

a bit hard though to imagine a T driver listening to this without changing channel.

  • Exactly.

  • started 1Q84 today

  • Same her, I just finished the book... still nt know what to think..

  • 1Q84, everyone should comment for tracking

  • reading 1Q84......HAD to hear it!

  • @CatCallou , Try ' The Wind-up Bird Chronicle' or ' A Wild Sheep Chase', might be more your taste ! I've just

started reading '1Q84' and it seems amazing already. It's available at Blackwell bookshop, London, or maybe online ! It is definitely out , ready to enjoy.

  • Yes, checking the musical reference !! Just started reading it, sooo excited ! I'm sure I'll be checking out further references too !

  • Yes. 1Q84. It turns out I was already familiar with the first movement as it was quoted (in part) in Emerson, Lake and Palmer's "Knife Edge" in 1970 (video here on YT) in which he also quotes JS Bach's French Suite in Dm. A note of caution, not all classical fans will appreciate Emerson's interpretations.

  • Yes. 1Q84. It turns out I was already familiar with the first movement as it was quoted (in part) Emerson, Lake and Palmer's "Knife Edge" in 1970.

  • i just finished the book..... let me tell you is going to blow ur minds....

  • 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84 1Q84!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yep. 19Q4.

  • I'm at page 5..

  • Yes I`m a Murakami fan too and also I came here because 1Q84

  • Yes, Murakami sent me here too! Enjoying the new book on my week-long vacation.

  • Thumbs up if you're listening to this after reading 1Q84!!!

  • Murakami has incredible taste in music. I fell in love with the Archduke Trio after I read Kafka on the Shore. The Schubert Piano Sonata in D Major that he references in that book is also incredible. One fun thing I do when I read a Murakami novel, is every time he makes a reference to a song, I put down the book and listen to that song. It makes Murakami novels kind of like a multimedia experience....

  • @bakervillia

I do exactly the same thing! Im still only on the first chapter on 1Q84 (the first page really) and as soon this was mentioned, I came here to listen to it. It makes the whole experience a lot more satisfying.

  • Love classical music. Love Murakami's novel. Not a huge fan of the intense brass in this piece though... putting on some Mendelssohn Piano Concerto #1 while reading instead.

  • I'm also here because of 1q84

  • I'm also here because od 1Q84... Another reason to thank Mr Haruki Murakami to share his culture!

  • I'm afraid about little people

  • I'm also listening this because of Haruki Murakami 1Q84. When I hear the trumpets and the timbales souding I remember the story. It was beautiful. I Identify to Tengo. We're so much alike!!

  • @CatCallou i don't think that it is better. i got the book in spanish, though, but i don't think that it has to do with the language difference or lousy translation. i always prefered norwegian wood, it's my favourite piece. but you definitely should try this one out, you might like it.

  • @Omega3R i got the book in spanish too

  • Just starting on 1Q84

  • anyone listen to this piece without reading 1Q84?

  • ... after reading 1st page of 1Q84)))

  • I think the Czech orchestras are still great, the one thing the Reds couldn't ruin.

But Kubelik made great Czech music in Bavaria.

  • super aufnahme, auch wegen der sehr guten orchesteraufstellung (violinen links und rechts vom dirigenten)

  • Listening cause of 1Q84 ;) Anyone else?

  • @araggorn yeahh!!! murakami janacek are boss!

  • me too, i like em both!

  • @araggorn Me too xD

  • @araggorn yo también estoy enganchada con 1Q84 y la sinfonietta!!!

  • @araggorn yo también estoy enganchada con 1Q84 y la sinfonietta!!!

  • @araggorn me too :-).. I just started the reading of the Murakami book 1Q84 and wanted to get into the right mood...

  • Me too))

  • @araggorn

Just got it. Gotta get into the mood.

  • yep

  • @araggorn Yep :)

  • @araggorn Me too!

  • @araggorn Listening because I love this. Haven't read 1Q84, waiting for my turn :)

  • thanks for helping me with my music homework!!

  • Prächtig

  • Prachtig, nog beter als je 1q84 van Haruki Murakami aan het lezen bent.

  • Kubelik nails it!!

  • Anything that Kubelik conducts is amayzing and the best ever! This was time when also czech orchestras were top ones. Past are those days unfortunatelly. Kubelik garants one if best performance of whatever he conducted. Thanks for this video.

  • @teeerinka85 They are using 6 trumpets nobody else does that they want the brass to ring out on their favorite composer

  • Wonderful!!

I love the Sinfonietta, and what a joy to actually see the great Kubelik!

    Thanks much for this.
