I love that park, I love camping for $2 a day on the rio grand, but I have to tell you this bro, you missed some of the best parts of that park LOL, next time call me LOL I will show you alot more LOL, I think you seen abour 1/10th of the park, REALLY. you missed two of the best things in that park, 1 the plateau, 2 the cavern springs
I'm not suprised nobody is around. Obviously the most people that we saw was at the visitors center and the Chisos Basin area. But when you get in your car and drive to different places to hike trails etc, you don't run across very many people. Big Bend NP is one of the least visited national parks mainly because it is situated in such a remote area of Texas. It's a shame because it is an absolutely gorgeous park. I mean you generally are not going to arrive there by accident. It is worth it!
I've hiked and backpacked almost 3,000 miles of Texas Trans-Pecos desert mountains and still keep going back. It's my favorite place in the world. This video just barely scratches the surface of this desert wonderland. It's awesome from the roads (paved and otherwise), but to me it's the backcountry that will just take your breath away in so many places. I'm there at least twice a year leading Sierra Club service projects or backpacking trips.
I tried to move the slider to 9:26 where it actually takes place and it just won't let me do it. I think it is an upload error you're seeing.. here are some times
As a person who lived and worked there in the park for 3 years, your video work was good! Wish the car radio had not been on, but that's okay. Some areas were accurately described, but others weren't quite right - the pond area near Santa Elena Canyon was not the Rio Grande but a washout. The actual river was past it about 100 feet with the sides of the canyon surrounding the river - Texas near you and Mexico on the far side.
i have captured them on camera before with my Sony HD in infrared. I have deleted most of my videos, but i think im gonna upload my two best in a sec. I was watching this video cause i was looking for places to travel to and noticed the rod. Its really hard to say. I'm not sure what they are, but they are definitely not bugs.. Someone tried telling me the UFO i filmed was a wasp and is totally not the case. check my channel for some raw rod videos i recorded. Also, others filmed in infrared
Big Bend is one of my favorite places on the planet. You need to spend at least a week there and get off the roads to truly see it. And when you drive through Terlingua/Study (pronounced stoo' dy) Butte, stop into La Kiva and see Gumby.
Wow......not one damn illegal. I heard there is a portion of scary drive there in the park I was trying to locate as I'm thinking of going there on my way back to New Mexico from Galveston. That's how I stumbled on your video. Looks peaceful though. I like the no other visitors part you mentioned. :-) The Park Rangers must feel left out and lonely out there. Thanks for uploading the video.
