Its true. I Had a IS350 and when i floored it, the gas pedal did get stuck.. I had to stomp on the gas pedal to release it. Just reposition the floor mat sometimes. P.S. that floor mat is not stock.
This video show the all weather floor mats , that is not the original Lexus floor mats, with the original floor mat the pedal will get stuck if you fully accelerate, I know it almost kill me and a friend
Dude legit? You're an idiot, this is completely your fault in this case, the brakes on any car are designed to overpower the accelerator (not brake override) so you not having brakes has nothing to do with the car and besides, shift into neutral and dont let go of the brakes
Cars break down, I don't care if they are American, Japanese, German, French, etc. As technology changes and improves, unexpected things can happen, I do not believe in a car or company that manufactures cars that are super reliable with 'bullet proof' engines that never break down, utter rubbish. There are many factors for why a car fails and be wary of buying new models because you are the 'guinea pig' testing the car for the manufacturer for possible failures and there will be.

@XTheBrazilianGodX unless the brake pedal is not connected to the master cylinder(which it is) they can not stop you from manually engaging the brakes. have you ever looked under the hood of a car? and the emergency brake is just a cable...u cant stop it with a computer
I have been driving GMs and Fords for years and have never had problems with them, is this a new feature that Toyota's have to keep the driver alert by having the car take over with a mind of its own. The continued support for Toyota's after 12 million recalled vehicles is laughable, how can you people be so stupid to support a company that builds junk.
neutral, shut it off, emergency brake....i dont see how they brakes could stop working either
people in this country need to stop being pussies and buy manual transmission cars, because if you don't know how to put your car in neutral or use the emergency brake you need to get the fuck off the road.
This was clearly a malfunction. Their cpu or whatever computer is faulty. New technology gone bad. They just need to change the supplier of the cpu and all that will be solved. They probably got chinese cpu or some cheap crap.
Never had the luxury of a car equipped with throttle cable as you may have. I rarely use the cruise control ever so I don't need to worry about the acuators malfunctioning.
That happend to my minivan I was so nervous what I did was change gear D 2 R It stoped so hard & its started baking up but my transmission kind of mest up
this can happen with any car. what i always do is remove the floor mat on the driver side and put it in the trunk. it usually occurs with fat people where a fat leg somehow sticks to the mat while driving and moves it near the pedal. it is dangerous
Hello... place the vehicle in neutral or better yet, hold the ignition button down for three seconds and the engine will shut off! (if this were to happen due to over stacking floor mats or the mat not being secure and being pushed upwards.
@Fitz207 Thanks for calling my use of the pinto lawsuit pathetic for being so old. I did some research and discovered that this poor design has never been fixed, lawsuits continue to this day. Ford admits in court they have no plans to fix the exploding gas tanks in their cop cars and pickup trucks. The last lawsuit was 2008. 14 cops have been burned alive from this so far. By the way GM also suffered the same problem, but settled for a recall and ate 495 mill in damages. Thanks fitz207!

I know people are making a big deal about this recall, saying this is why to buy a domestic... Seriously? Are you forgeting about the bankruptcy basically all domestics went through about a year ago for listening to their customers? What about that Ford Pinto lawsuit series in the 70s (car exploded on rear end impact)? They never did a recall, bc it was cheaper to pay the lawsuits! Seen Roger and Me? GM puts a town on the streets so they could export the plant to Mexico, ya lets buy from them.
@E34BMW535i Man, don't be that fanatic... German cars sells 'name', not quality at all if you compare those cars to Lexus, Infinity or Acura... sorry my man, but Audi is nothing in this world. I have seen a nice R8's documentary but it's a terrible misleading ads (as usual). They said 'the first with LED lights in front lamps (WRONG, it's Lexus LS600h), they said 'the only one maker able to build 100% aluminium chassis (wrong, there a lot of car makers in Japan able to do the same or better...
@E34BMW535i ... Honda NSX, etc. have 100% aluminum versions., etc. Anyway, I also like german cars... hehehe :P They are nice as well :P What's your favourite car maker?
@DtorBill bmw of course. i really like my 535i, but it is getting old and rusty. i'm planning on buying an e34 m5 in a few years. i was so angry, i found one on ebay last week in mint condition with 126 000 km on it. it went for like $12000. i wish i could have afforded it. i'm not really a fan of audi, they just look nice is all.
@E34BMW535i This is just a question, don't get me wrong, please... don't you like Lexus? It think the IS350 is nice and it sounds incredibly nice. Although maybe you prefer a bigger one and probably the GS is too much, no?
@DtorBill nahh, not much. they look too boring, and i've never been a fan of toyota, except the supra, which is utterly amazing. it has the inline 6. best engine ever made, which is another reason why i love bmw.
@E34BMW535i Well, try to drive for a few minutes a Lexus IS350, I invite you for a beer if you don't like :P Yes, you are right, the Supra's engine is the best ever made, I wish to see a new supra SOONNNN.
this is bullshit, if you are truly terrified of your Lexus then sell it, or better yet, you can just give it to me for free, I will let you know if I crash, I'm willing to sacrifice my self for the good of mankind, please let me help you hahahahaa
I want to blame toyota for making boring cars that teach people to forget how to drive. But you are retarded if you just don't shift into neutral or turn the car off. Somehow toyota is being blamed for people not taking the responsibility to know how to drive a car. You retards are ruining it so manufacturers will no longer make fun cars because you forgot how to drive or read an owners manual. And yes Toyota is to blame for making boring cars err appliances that get people from point a to b.
to all u fucking retards out there, look it up in the last several years gm over 20, 000 recalls, Chrysler over 13,000 recalls, Toyota 680. and people want to say Toyota's r shit. learn about cars u stupid fucks.
buy a manual car.. if it accelerates just push the clutch... and wheels with no contach with the engine.. and if the brake don't work use the hand break... the hand breaks are very manual its exactly same as bicycle breaks... the point is if it has happend with lexus.. it also have with ford cars. and now recently it was toyota.. this incident can happen with any car... to avoid the problem try buying a car with less electric features
Learn to spell dumb shit, brake light. You just want some money off of a lawsuit, it has already been disproved that the problem is anything electronic.
@smartkid1985 No.. just leave the stock floor mats and you are fine. And even if the pedal sticks, you put it in neutral. It is common sense not to pile up all weather floor mats, so the way i see it is toyota is cleaning up the world of dumb asses.
@xFatalityyy Oh man that is the dumbest remark. Especially coming from someone that isn't an engineer.
So first, Toyota blames it on floor mats. Second, they blame it on a shim inside the pedal assembly. Third, they are telling congress, "we don't have the problem solved"
@xFatalityyy AHAHAHA. Toyota is cleaning up the world of dumbasses. So true. Poor toyota for making cars to sell to dumbasses. But that's what you get!! Make a bunch of cars that enthusiasts who know how to drive would love, and this would never happen.
@LZKS AMEN, people need to stop their bitching about toyota. Dodge recently had a recall on their vans for airbags randomly exploding, but nobody talks about that because the media didn't get ahold of it. I will take the chance of my pedal sticking and throwing it in neutral rather than get an airbag busted in my face. Or get a ford or chevy and break down at 60,000 miles.
You mean Toyota are shitty cars. Id rather buy a european car than step foot inside a POS toyota. And conspiracy is only about people who have no clue about cars. If you ever worked on a car, you would know toyota are POS cars.
@taledarkside So you claim that you and your wife almost died in separate accidents... So after both of your cars rapidly accelerate to 90mph down the interstate, they magically fix and you drive it home. It is funny that you couldn't make up a better story. You just need to stop making up stuff and take these fake videos off of youtube.
@xFatalityyy This is why I like manual transmissions. Also cars have multiple failsafes to prevent things like this. Some require the user to know how to drive said car if my car where accelerating aout of control and the brakes did not work why not 1) there is this thing that was invented along time ago called an emergency brake 2) put it in neutral, this may not be advisable for auto trans cars under normal running conditions but in an emergency you take action 3) turn the ignition of!
@xFatalityyy Because toyota has such a well known reputation (before the brake incidents) they are getting all the media attention. Another interesting recall that was going on was the honda fit window electrical catching on fire if water comes in contact with the window switches. Another one was ford fusion was recalled for the cruise control button catching on fire as well..... but no ones seems to look at that either
@bobqwewe3 And they recalled many GM vehicles for wiper fluid catching on fire.. I completely agree, Toyota's reputation was spotless so when one thing went wrong everyone flipped their shit.
@arielrodrigo1 Learn to use proper grammar before you try and speak to me. I don't like having to try and figure out what the hell you are trying to say. Toyota isn't a he as far as i know.
@xFatalityyy arielrodrigo is S.Korean pretending from Argentina. These guys are who wrote a lot of complaints against Toyota without reason... already found.
Por supuesto, este payaso no tiene amigos y probablemente le esté pagando hyundai (el único fabricante que apareció para hablar mierda de Toyota en noviembre 2009)... coincidencia?
so what is wrong in this movie?? you press the accel. the car is accelerating you depress and the car stops accel. .. Is this movie intended for idiots? ...i think you are pressing both pedals when trying to brake.... that's why car doesn't brake lol... i never liked Auto trans. even women drive manuals in my country ..and in EU in general. I admit that using a clutch requires an averege IQ
romania is one the shittiest and poorest country in Europe I was in belgium and france last summer and the only thing you see is fucking romanian immigrant so please shut your ass up and go fix your fucking country
I think many people just want a new car. People I know that have a Lexus also complain about their car, not about UA, just that they do not want it anymore and/or do not like it anymore. Not saying there is no problem, but in the US everything turns to a lawsuit and almost everyone will try and get as much as they can out of it. Magic words - Class action lawsuit Bet most who UA around town still make payments. ua Ua UA
Why isnt Toyotas throttle position sensor hooked up to the throttle body? What controls the air flow to the engine? On anything normal, when you let off the pedal you also cut off the engine intake air supply! Without air the engine cant run! Correct?
Toyota needs to make a major effort to eliminate any problems, real or perceived. They're not handling this well for their future. Blaming their customers for mats and the wrong pedal? Who would EVER buy a Toyota when this is their response? What have they done to save theirs and other drivers? All I've heard is they're sorry, but what about the safety of other traffic and pedestrians? This is not an engineering exercise. Maybe they think it won't be provable in court? What a company!
pretend for an instant that there was no real problem with the gas pedals just mats, How as a company would you handle this situation. People crash cars thats what they do, Now if there was an excuse for you to use rather than saying i crashed my car or stood on the gas instead of brake then wouldnt you use it. I'm certain the engineers that run the largest automaker in the world have their reasons' and it makes sense to some of us what they are doing. no admitance no blame pretend fix
What matters is their credibility, obviously, when they're selling an expensive product. Why buy from them when other cars are so similar? They've had a chance to stand out and be a different kind of corporation. Not only haven't they addressed fears, they've scared me more by being so ignorant and secretive and withholding and calculating! I don't care if they can or cannot specifically determine what. Rip it out, start again! Too late now! What else should we fear from them? Endless!
For CONTEXT read the Business Week story by Ed Wallace "The Toyota Witch Hunt". Until there is PROOF (which so far has not been offered) Toy currently DENIES any mysterious electronic "glitch" causing what appears to be a slightly different claim in each case. Think about it folks, Not all of these Toy "events" are the same, some involve claims of not being able to power down, some have been in reverse, not shifting to neutral. You can't explain the myriad claims of SUA with one explanation.
PUT IT IN NETRUAL FOOLLL lol that actually happened once in our 300c....my dad mashed the pedal to get away from someone and the accelerator got stuck (only happened once) so it just kept on going...at around 95 (we were going about 65 just before he stepped on it) he realized it was out of control so he put it into neutral and it slowed down
@lwowskij I know, right? And with this new thing with the brake overriding the accelerator, how are people in auto toyotas supposed to try to burnout? haha
@corvettels9 actually only european vehicles have that already it overrides the electronic throttle positioning sensor on the pedal and the throttle to close up i saw this video on it today on highway safety
Most all sudden accerleration claims (made by owners of practically every different manufacturer) can be traced to driver error or something such as floor mats. For a better look at the Toyota situation see Business Week's story "The Toyota Witch Hunt".
This user's other videos about his Lexus issue have had the comments section disabled so there is no two-way debate possible and he does not identify the dealer he spoke with so no verification possible. We don't know if his floor mats were properly attached to the hooks when he (or was it his wife) experienced the problem, in the other video he says it was his wife. Cannot determine much from this but that he claims one thing and the dealer (per the other video) claim another.
I actually work for a toyota dealer and the stuff that i see most of my friends laughed about it until i started taking some pics with my cell phone theres people coming in with 2 to 4 floor mats installed in the vehicle saying that the car its accelerating by itself. Now with this crazy recall that its taking place people are still coming in for the recall with the same floormats that we told them to remove. their excuse is, i dont want to dirty my original floor mat.
well obviously the floor mat its installed properly in this vehicle. How about you make a movie where you can make "that sudden acceleration" take place. No you make a movie how the floor mat sits properly with a proper installation
I actually bought a Toyota a few weeks ago, the day b4 they stopped sales.
I knew about the controversy but I was certain it was nonsense. Now, learning more about how Toyota has buried this issue for years, it's clear they knew of the problem but have been trying to HIDE IT for over a decade.
In fact, did you know that Toyota quietly recalled some Camrys back in 1996? Why?
Because (as they admitted then) the cruise control could cause Sudden Accelaration!
Not yet, they have not been convicted of anything but in the media and court of public opinion. The "issue" Toyota has "buried" which has NOT been proven, has been legendary in ALL auto manufacturer's product lines since cars were invented practically. The NHTSA only lists 34 "sudden acceleration" fatalities in TEN YEARS to Toyota's, the most popular cars on the road with perhaps BILLIONS of miles driven. (Complaints are to be expected with such numbers.)
First - learn how to spell BRAKE ! - Sorry but I don't buy the story that the car accelerated on its own - NOT POSSIBLE - I have seen it firsthand where the accelerator pedals WILL get caught on the floor mats - due to either the winter floor mats being placed on top of the carpeted mats or the carpeted mats not being held down by the retainers . Must be looking for a big lawyer PAY DAY in my opinion .....
"I have never heard such troubles in Japan. It is strange. Ordinary people cannot understand the feeling of the problems. This time, I feel US's malice or intention".
Today, Rhonda Smith said she could not control her car at 100 mile/h. I have never heard about that in Japan. Does she say truth? Also, she said Lexus speed up from 70 mile to 100 mile/h, and Gear was back & used side break, lol.
I won't EVER buy another Toyota after this nonsense! Why would anybody? All they care about is recall expenses. WE'RE ALL IN DANGER because of their cars! Why should we believe anything that's coming out of Toyota? It's a wear flaw in their modules. It'll only get worse as their fleet gets older! They need to Replace it, even if they can't replicate the exact problem. This is not an exercise. They have 3 trillion yen in financial strength. Spend 2 billion dollars FIXING THIS NOW!!
my advice to you mr. lexusdeathtrap; stop standing on the gas when you think you're holding down the brake, either that, or stop making up bullshit for attention.
I'd probrably still buy a Toyota/Lexus in the future (since they have a fix and my family have never had a problem for 21 years!) Sorry toyota haters :) but i still trust them.
ps: To the people posting racist comment, you will all be going to Hell.. and i will watch you suffer and point and laugh :)
Drive-by-wire, or fly-by-wire as it is called, means "kill-by-wire". This electronic phenomenon in cars is meant to kill people, by radio interference or remote control. Now they want to add "Steer-by-Wire". Which means No steering. Electronic ignition and timing is one thing, control of the gas pedals and brakes is another. Now, a lot of cars have "Transmission-By-Wire" already. Will radio interference or deadly remote control affect these? OnStar can remotely start or stop your car, as well.
I think it is absolutely crazy to allow them to make cars with "fly-by-wire" accelerator pedals. This means there is no mechanical cable connecting the floor accelerator pedal to the engine. It's all controlled by electronics. Bad move IMHO.
i have almost the same floor mat but a new version it does not move i went to lexus they just secured it so its now impossible to move no matter the circumstance... i never seen an accelerator problem and i've hit 127mph tops on my IS ... never had a problem with the brakes or accel i don't know what to say cuz i haven't had a problem yet... but i did get pulled over for a rolling stop on a stop sign going 3 mph on a right turn late at night.. i should've blamed it on the accel! $400! for that
Fuck Toyota! I like a few of their old cars, but hated when they switched to purely FWD. But even then the 90s Corollas were alright, assuming you weren't in N. America where the sport editions weren't even sold, instead getting those buckets with no safety, power, handling, or looks. Now, I don't even know what to say. They're TRYING to make them uglier, lest they drive Honda out of business. People buy them because they break the least & are cheapest to repair. But they're hardly the best.
Its true. I Had a IS350 and when i floored it, the gas pedal did get stuck.. I had to stomp on the gas pedal to release it. Just reposition the floor mat sometimes. P.S. that floor mat is not stock.

this can happen with any car. what i always do is remove the floor mat on the driver side and put it in the trunk. it usually occurs with fat people where a fat leg somehow sticks to the mat while driving and moves it near the pedal. it is dangerous

Hello... place the vehicle in neutral or better yet, hold the ignition button down for three seconds and the engine will shut off!

They said 'the first with LED lights in front lamps (WRONG, it's Lexus LS600h), they said 'the only one maker able to build 100% aluminium chassis (wrong, there a lot of car makers in Japan able to do the same or better...

@xFatalityyy Oh man that is the dumbest remark. Especially coming from someone that isn't an engineer.

@LZKS AMEN, people need to stop their bitching about toyota. Dodge recently had a recall on their vans for airbags randomly exploding, but nobody talks about that because the media didn't get ahold of it.
Endofcomment 1 year ago
@xFatalityyy Because toyota has such a well known reputation (before the brake incidents) they are getting all the media attention. What a company!
jerbiebarb 1 year ago
pretend for an instant that there was no real problem with the gas pedals just mats, How as a company would you handle this situation.
