Just finished watching the film, and I loved it! This guy is only seeing the abuse and violence towards women and not seeing the bigger picture! No matter how hard we get knocked down we will always come back fighting stronger. I think this film shows more of a Mans fear than anything else. That's why the Male character is so abusive, because he is scared... he needs to feel powerful, but ultimately this is a womans world in which we let men live ;)
Additionally, you would have more a case if men of other social backgrounds in the movie were portrayed as evil. If anything, American Psycho is more of a film about almost all men being evil than this is, and a lot of people interpreted that book and film as sexist against women.
One of the school staff members was not evil. He had a conversation with the female teacher. I don't think that all men are supposed to be evil in the film. The only evil men are related by blood, within a single family, which makes sense within the context of the film.
I think we have all had an embarrassing moment like this man has; I know I have. He is misunderstanding that film is not meant to be preaching values, but is in fact black comedy. After he cooled down he probably realized that he came across as a dick.

People are worryingly stupid about this stuff. Claiming that something isn't art because it is confronting or disturbing is woefully closed-minded. Look at Goya or Bosch, revered painters and artists who depicted disturbing images of the depths of human cruelty and madness. Aren't they artists? Sam Raimi admitted that he wouldn't do the tree rape in Evil Dead today. That was shock for the sake of it. This movie is well crafted and has a moral point of view. If you like horror, why not see it?

I just watched this movie and I would have to agree with him. I was unsure about downloading the movie, but this guy made a great advertise for it. Downloading... The fact that he can't get what a movie is about only means he doesn't understand society itself - the one we live today, with it's post-modern complete detachment from symbols and reality. Any creation can simply be like a house of cards, but made of symbols - it doesn't have to have a point.
The actual movie gets about a 5/10 when judged on its ability to shock or disturb, so either this guy is mentally ill, an attention whore, or employed by the movie to garner some hype. Either way, it's pointless. Decent movie.

People are worryingly stupid about this stuff. Claiming that something isn't art because it is confronting or disturbing is woefully closed-minded. Look at Goya or Bosch, revered painters and artists who depicted disturbing images of the depths of human cruelty and madness. Aren't they artists? I've seen movies that have shaken me, that repulsed me, that made my skin crawl, which i would, simultaneously, rank among the best cinematic experiences of my life. Shock isn't always for shock's sake.

the value of watching these films is to watch a gory movie for entertainment and get your money's worth, you dick. it's fucking sundance film festival. you never know what films they're going to show, so why go see it? if you're upset about the film, don't go yelling at the festival guy, go complain to your dead mother or imaginary friend for all i care. and also, if your friend passed out, it's her fault for not exiting the theater when the first bit of violence showed up.

I can definitely see where this man is coming from. Personally, I don't think such touchy subjects should be addressed in films in such a graphic way. Then again, it's people's choices what they wish to view. I will take no part in watching films such as these, but I respect the people who do nonetheless. This man was also completely discourteous to the employee in the hallway. If you are that upset, there are loads of like-minded individuals on the internet to vent to. Agh, society.

I'm seeing the film next Friday, so I can't yet argue for or against it. However, if a film shows something wrong and disgusting, and an audience member is disgusted by it and rants about how wrong it is, I'd argue that THAT'S the point this man is looking for.

Great Clip. The couple that complained obviously don't watch movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre or The Human Centipede. I will say though, the Poster doesn't convey Torture Porn/Sexploitation/Horror like say the poster for 'I Spit on Your Grave' so I can see why they may have not been prepared.
They definitely didn't watch the trailer.

Sam Raimi admitted that he wouldn't do the tree rape in Evil Dead today. That was shock for the sake of it. This movie is well crafted and has a moral point of view. If you like horror, why not see it?

This actually make me not want to see the film. I enjoy films like Evil Dead, Re-animator, Cabin Fever, Visitor Q, and Inglourious Basterds... but those films, while gory or shocking to some, are also either fun, funny, artistic or just skillfully crafted. Shock for the sake of shock? No thanks. That guy sounded reasonable. I'll skip this one.

I just watched this movie and I would have to agree with him. It's a desperately sad state of affairs when a man that speaks out against the rape, torture and abuse of women is viewed as bat sh*t insane by everybody else. This is how depraved society has become. I guess the measure of a man is how much he enjoys the brutalization of women?

A man should be measured by his common sense, his character, and his ability to use both in conjunction. This man did not know what he was seeing? He had no idea what the movie was about? And even if he did, there is no reason to cause a disturbance for the rest of the audience, let alone hassle the guy out in the hallway who has nothing to do with the film itself. These films are not rated, so he knew the implications beforehand.

The whole time you see them on screen, they are only pretending, regardless if they are going through bad situations or good situations. What you see happening to them in the movie, is only pretend. It's not real. He had no valid argument because everything he saw was fake, and the same goes for you.

I was unsure about downloading the movie, but this guy made a great advertise for it. Downloading... The fact that he can't get what a movie is about only means he doesn't understand society itself - the one we live today, with it's post-modern complete detachment from symbols and reality. Any creation can simply be like a house of cards, but made of symbols - it doesn't have to have a point.
