Keeping koi is a great hobby whereby you create your own world. I am sure everybody who keeps these magnificent fish as a hobby knows what i am talking about:)

Having been to koi shows, I can tell you that these fish aren't kept in small buckets. These fish are valuable, and are treated as well as or better than children. These are world class fish, thank you for posting this. :)

@SuperQuickStick I don't think so. I'm not a pro at ponds/koi but my pond is probably only slightly deeper than that. But I've seen shallower ponds where the koi still come up quite a bit.

I don't have the best quality water (and a very novice pond) but my koi are usually up around the surface...at least whenever I have a look....they're always like: food food food food =P

Are the hand placements to keep him from jumping out? Why do sometimes push him against the side wall of the tub? Does this calm him down?

@SiliconBlake hand placement is probably to guide the fish since hes too big to actually turn around own its own. and i think they push him on the wall to see the exact length of the fish
