My mother used to narrate how his marathon concerts would on occasion extend even beyond the 4 hour mark and push 5 hours! Imagine that singing 5 hours at a stretch non-stop with such a vigorous attitude! Respect.

This is one of his best song I have ever heard. It is really wonderful to hear whenever you mind is in a disturbed condition. I recommend this song to all.

One of my favourites. He sings with such ease any raga. Its so much part of him. Music to him is like a favourite toy he cannot stay without playing. My mother used to tell us of how as a boy he used to follow his mentor Chittoor Subramanaiam pillai, with his pigtail dangling and carrying the tambura dutifully. His light hearted personality and ability to dramatise helped connect with his audience immediately. I always wondered why he did not try his skills in acting which was what many did .

I wouldn't call it mocking though. Somu had high regard for his seniors such as Ariyakudi, SSI, MVI, GNB etc. He would mimic MVI while rendering Mohanam or Arabhi, I have a concert while singing Nattakurinji as part of a virutham he mentions GNB and show how he used to sing Nattakurinji.

well, as you said, it is mimic (not mock - mock is mimic with a negative touch? ain't it?). every audience wants to compare the current king with the one from previous era..like tendulkar vs bradman, how gavaskar will fair against murali.. here the master himself pays tribute to his senior.. that should enthrall and sastisfy the audience to great extent.
