Nice video. Your voice indeed resembles the generic black guy weather man adaptation of the "more pure Caucasian dialect", as southpark would have it. Well played sir.
@HandRpuffin It can be weird. Personally I don't have any hard and fast rules. For rhythm though, experience tends to have me gravitate to the middle position or the bridge. Though for leads I can go either way I've tended to favor the neck from time to time for things that I want thicker or rounder tones on, when I want edge, bridge is king.
I wouldn't do this exact mod to my guitar. I get the sounds I want without coil taps. But I like this guys ideas. People who do this stuff interest me sometimes. Right on man! Are peavy vipers any good?
@Xidkwhat2callmyselfX More than fair, sir. I enjoy the tones I've been getting on tube amplifiers while feeling like I've put my spin on a classic mod that suits my purposes. The video is more about presenting the idea to people in the off chance that they don't quite like the standard Page mod either.
@andrewds98 Personally I love the Bluesbucker clean. In all wirings it offers a good sound and I'm sure you can get a tone out of it you'll dig for Metallica type things. It might not sound quite like an active pickup but it does sound great clean
@jfrizzlle What happened was I bid on and won a Breed pickup only to realize when it got to me that it was the neck model instead of the bridge. Instead of waiting and sending it back I figured what the hell because DiMarzio has a good return policy and installed it. It's one of the few pickups used in the bridge position that I've liked the sound of clean and from other buddies on forums it isn't all that uncommon of a choice apparently.
@ShawnDanielTV I've not had much luck in the way of Seymour Duncans agreeing with my ears. The overall Alnico 2/Slash tone was never my favorite even though I LOVE Appetite for Destruction. I'm curious to hear how they'd handle in this guitar. As far as taste goes I have a thing for everything. I love Classic Rock, Funk, Fusion and Prog and Metal and when I get the hell around to doing a dirty demo I will showcase those a bit more I think. A little Thrash would be fun to do
I really do hate digital amp models. I much prefer simple tube amps. Mmmmm juicy tube distortion..... As far as i know you can get break up like that on most digital things, even this 20 dollar micro amp i have....
I was seriously considering this mod (only using push pull pots though) to my '09 GLP standard but then realized the only way to realistically do it would be to rip out the circuit board and pickups because only has 2 wire PUP's, GRRR maybe later...
@confusedguy123456789 I did it a little differently. The traditional calls for 4 push pull pots. Mine was done using 2 4 way rotary switches. I am more than pleased with the results
how hard was it to wire up the concentric pots? I'm planning on installing these in my Jaguar special soon

What would bother me is that the Bluesbucker is ceramic. Which if you play neck p'up as rhythm and bridge as lead would be wierd.

@seafooddynamite
MWAHA(: .
You should get "Alnico II Pro Slash APH-2" Pickups .
Those puppies will make you sound amazing.
NOW, i don't think you'd care what I have to say,
But i just have this feeling you have a thing fr classic rock .
I'm a guitarist myself, i have a "Jimmy Page 1995 Model signed"
and a Gibson EDS-1275. I switched the Double Necks pickups to the Alnico Slash pickups on my 6 string.
It's beautiful, i recommend it (: .

@ebouwman034 Couldn't agree more. I just like being something of a cartoonish wanker on camera. It's nice to make yourself laugh sometimes
