I grew up in West Monroe louisiana and taught myself how to play a $12.00 gibson bought from Firestone Store in 1950, listening to Webb's music.............he had the talent.
Back in 1950 Webb Pierce hear hank Williams singing this song and ask Hank are you going to record thesong, Hank said no that he was in a enough trouble all ready, and gave the song to Webb. If you listen you can hear it was a Hank Williams song.It a shame that Hank did not record this song.I have 99% of all Hank Williams songs.
back street affair was wrote by billy wallace giving webb his second no 1 he also wrote dont throw your life away which was another great song and recorded by webb
I just love Webb's music. This is the music I grew up with. I sort wish someone could also upload Conway and Loretta's version of this song. They recorded it in the 70's. It is so pretty too.
Webb passed away in Feb-1991.He had cancer. I still love all of his music. I listen to some of his songs every day.He was my favorite country music singer.
A lot of artists have recorded this song , and all of them are good . Webb's version is by far the best , thank you so much for posting it. Definately 5 stars.
