@olinobich I'm somewhat the same way. There was a time during High school where I actually did open up a bit (though I was more interested in having discussions and debates on the forums - this was a cyber school - than really making friends, which just sort of happened as a by-product).
In my case I do have friends, but I mainly by accident or as a result of my oritory. Otherwise I never SEEK OUT anyone and frankly I have seen enough for me to really despise most people..
Being in a relationship is hard especially with someone who doesn't understand or even know what AS is. I have aspergers and its hard for me to be flexible. I like my routine and I HATE for it to be broken and something so stupid like time really makes nervous or anxious when some one says they will be there at certain time but they are late or early and if something starts early or late. So relationships are hard. Not worth it some times. It feels like there is less anxiety in being alone
@allenwood100 Hye! Speak for yourselves, Obots Reps may be schills for corporations but Dems are just outright thieves, bureaucracies are no different than corporations (that is why I consider myself a total Anarchist)
I think this video rocks. Yes, I to have discaulculas, andwas a punk not a nerd as a teen.
Although when you think about it, they are both social misfit subcultures.
And why is sitting and watching TV considered normal, but sitting and making up stories isn't?
Mine are better, and have no comercials.
I think you will find a lot of aspies at any science fiction convention, among both the writers and the fans (and they don't all know hard science or math, either.)
@DChatc Exactly, we have lost the power of imagination, which in the era of sotry telling and even radio dramas people still had. That's why movies and TV are getting worse and worse, (there are exeptions.)
No we're not all geeks (but there sure are a lot of us!) And we have feelings, yes, but most of us lack empathy. I, in fact, scored a 4 in this department (the "norm" is around 26 on the scale). And unfortunatly, for a lot of us, passing as "normal" is a learned behaviour, and. not something that is natural or comes easily.
@mythme yes i've learned quite well. i learned so well in fact that my diagnosis came last year at 26. It's been a torturus time pretending to be a neurotypical especialy not knowing what was "untypical" about me. I have dark humor, sarcasm and i get them quite well. I do miss other things though. I have an IQ of 158 and haven't done anything monumental
@mythme .I was always the science nerd and art kid but, would get so bullied that i'd flail and hurt the other kid and get into trouble while the bully went on to back another kid into a corner. Now i'm a musician but, i love to tinker. I really love to make things work...better and in new and unexpected ways.
@mythme Why is that unfortunate? What should be really considered unfortunate is that we are all scattered and living at the mercy of THEIR hegemony.. If there were an Asperger civilization what is considered abbarant in non-Asperger territories would be "normal".
I just see learning there customs as similar to a secret agent blending in with a hostile nation. One thing is for certain I do not envy them.
Lovely music. What is it? Anyone know? Nice video too ;) I was just diagnosed AS today in the Cambridge Autstic Research Centre. I had 2 long appointments at different on different dates. They were very thorough. They were great. I feel great!
i'm no math genius i still can't count well without a calculater (i'm in my 20's) and the imagination thing is extremely high i don't really need to watch tv when i can create movies and whatever i want with it (note-my humour is extremely bizarre but i wont have it any other way it keeps me sane) just accept who you are and let no one make you think different
It's so important for the stereotypes / myths to be dis-proven.. I am 1 who is certainly not able to claim high understanding of the maths. I've always struggled with them! and 'good old fashioned' reading as well. Once I learned of the Irlen Method for my scotopic sensitivity; my reading did improve a bit. ...Bright Blessings!

Good. But I think you missed "having emotions or feelings." I mean you got "expressing feelings" but not "having emotions or feelings."

@milascave IT's sort of this working class thing: They have to go out and work whilst they let someone else write the stories for them to watch.
It is sort of the same reason that many cannot really cook these days but have to eat fast food or processed garbage these days
