See even the ants are prepping. They gather enough food to last them through the winter. the rotting decomposting vegetation deep in thier hills keep the whole colony warm too. Oh well to much Discovery, National Geographic and History chanel for me lol. But if you wactch what is going on in the animal kingdom it will give you a good idea of how hard a winter you will have by the amount of food they are storing.
The video isn't up to your standard. Several minutes of watching ants scurry around carries no informative value. Looking forward to your next effort. Such as; any word yet on Sensible Preppers III?
These things destroyed my deck. Apparently they don't actually eat wood, they just dig into it for their nest. The ones here in this part of Canada (Manitoba) are black.
@MrAppleseed88 They can be a number of colors. They are predominately black in the Mid West. This was shot in the western NC Mountains at my dad's place.
Nope! I have never been biten by these ants. We have a translucent red ant here that is about the same size. It's kinda rare to get bitten by both. Ant video? :)
@wpkxr99 Every ant can bite, just not all of them can sting you since alot of em dont have stingers. For example, a fire ant can sting you after it bites your skin and inserts its stinger. These wood ants can bite and could inject formic acid, their defense mechanism against other insects, but not likely as they have no stinger.
I"ve always loved ants so thats my nerdy comment for the day, lol!!

@sootch00 Cool... When I was 5 I was bit or stung by one of these. Let a red mark for a while. It hurt. I always kept away form them after that.
