Surprisingly, the Corvettes are very aerodynamic and easily get a little over 30 mpg highway but not near that in the city. and a ZR1 doesn't have a 7.0L, it's a 6.0L Supercharged
Its not a stock 6.1 Hemi, its the 426 crate hemi, costs about 13k for the engine alone, produces approx 600hp stock. b4 the srt goes under they'll produce a limited run of srt8's w the 6.4 L with 525 hp. but srt may have its last yr in 2010 or 2011 the guy who is an engineer there is not sure. he also said we should see r/t's w 6.1 w mds on it w shaker hoods (challenger, and charger) instead of srt's :(
Im with smelserdude1 on this. My grandad has a ZR-1 and it does get about 33mpg, but only on highway. Since the transmission is so good, it kicks down the revs so you're running 75mph, it's at about 1,100 revs. Just because it's a v8 doesn't mean its always going to have terrible gas mileage dude. And I'm bullshitting you either. My grandad has been buying Vettes since '85, he knows his shit.

Yeah, its top speed is lower then the magnum, charger, challenger, and 300. But it's acceleration is faster because of that AWD it has. Not only for an SUV, but for any car, its a firecracker off the line.

That's because of the double overdrive in the ZF 6 speed. Cruising at 70 in the ZR1, or any Vette for that matter, you'll get 30+. You have to be going at least 70, though, or the engine will lag.
yes, i know that all of the SRT8's have 6.1L 370 c.i.d. engines, but this guy is saying he bored his out to a 7.0L 426 c.i.d., They do have new 426 fuel injected engines based on the 6.1L block available now, and due in 2010 they are supposed to have a 6.4L 392 hemi; i believe it is supposed to be part of the drag pack for the Challenger.

All these comments fail, the jeep isnt a 30k car its closer to 50 "mine was" second if you had 80k to start with and didnt want a mod car you would get a ML or Porsch. Are you guys seriously comparing a 30K SRT-8 to a 90k+ Cayenne Turbo and ML63? Because we can all play that game, SRT-8 100 shot runs 11.8 all day like my buddy's for a 1/4 of the price of a Turbo or ML63. You can also twin turbo the SRT-8 for 20K with a warranty and have 700hp still at a 1/3 of the price of an ML or Cayenne. Bang for Buck nothing touches the SRT-8 other than a used SS trailblazer.

Just so you are being clear... this vehicle doesn't have "Traction Control" it has what they call "ESP" or Electronic Stability Program" that drags the back brakes when you break traction i a straight line and also drags the inside brake when cornering... That is why I have replaced my rear brake pads 2 to 1 over my fronts on my SRT8

the thing is that when a car company/designer makes a car, they specifically design each part to handle the engine that is in the car. this means that each part in the car despite what you said is specifically made to withstand 425 bhp and 410 lb-ft of torque along with the top speed of 150 mph. if you add another 175 bhp to the car, each part (including the traction control system) will be clueless as to how to handle it, and at the top speed of whatever it is now, the car could fall apart.
it is simply a half assed job to stick a supercharger/turbocharger/new engine into a car. when doing this, almost every performance part needs to be changed along with it. doing a real tuning job could actually cost more than just buying a new car. this car is good for drag racing now (as long as it does not reach its top speed) and nothing else. if you dont beileve me, look at the brabus merc sl65, the evo fq400, and the mustang gt500

Lets break down the word Traction Control. Traction or amount of power before wheel spin and control is control. So therefore traction control controls wheel spin.
There are other systems like stability control and other such systems but a traction control only controls traction.

it doesnt just control wheelspin, it controls your whole vehicle when accelerating. when the traction control is on, you can't powerslide around corners, and it will also help keep you from rolling over, things like this. it also controls wheelspin off the line, but this is not its primary purpose.

Regardless, that AWD system is one of the biggest sources of the Jeep's obesity. It's an SUV. Deal with it. I'm sure it's fast for an SUV. But that's not saying much. What's your ET in the 1/4? 0-60? 0-60-0? Lap times?
I'm sure they're similar to an SRT8 'anything', plus an extra several hundred pounds.

Yeah, its top speed is lower then the magnum, charger, challenger, and 300. But it's acceleration is faster because of that AWD it has. Not only for an SUV, but for any car, its a firecracker off the line.

Not to be a dick or anything, but the best MPG for the ZR1 was 20MPG that I could find. I do know the older 400hp ones could get 30 miles to the gallon.

I'm quite aware of how stupid people type on the internet. I'm 17 years old, a junior in high school, and all ready taking college level English classes. I believe in using correct communication all the time and I also text using correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Once again, I took a direct quote from someone who has driven the car first hand and saw the fuel economy readout on the dash indicating 30 mpg with the supercharger cut off. There's no better argument than a direct quote.

That's because of the double overdrive in the ZF 6 speed. Cruising at 70 in the ZR1, or any Vette for that matter, you'll get 30+. You have to be going at least 70, though, or the engine will lag.

yes, i know that all of the SRT8's have 6.1L 370 c.i.d. engines, but this guy is saying he bored his out to a 7.0L 426 c.i.d., They do have new 426 fuel injected engines based on the 6.1L block available now, and due in 2010 they are supposed to have a 6.4L 392 hemi; i believe it is supposed to be part of the drag pack for the Challenger.

i live in aspen CO and all my friends moms have ml63 amg porsche cayenne GT3 700+ hp supercharged G Wagons. Most of them use them only to get groceries. Jeep srt8 is way more badass and the people that own them actually drive them hard. i have jeep GC wk overland and it has the same V6 CDI 3.0 turbo diesel as the ML320 cdi benz. I LOVE JEEP!!! HAVE FUN OUT THERE!

All these comments fail, the jeep isnt a 30k car its closer to 50 "mine was" second if you had 80k to start with and didnt want a mod car you would get a ML or Porsch. So making the argument that if you put 30k into the jeep it would kill the Merc.....its all kinds of fail. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, nothing more nothing less. if 70hp or a leather dashboard were important to me then i would have gotten either of the latter but at the end of the day the look of the jeep sealed the deal. Are you guys seriously comparing a 30K SRT-8 to a 90k+ Cayenne Turbo and ML63? Because we can all play that game, SRT-8 100 shot runs 11.8 all day like my buddy's for a 1/4 of the price of a Turbo or ML63. You can also twin turbo the SRT-8 for 20K with a warranty and have 700hp still at a 1/3 of the price of an ML or Cayenne. Bang for Buck nothing touches the SRT-8 other than a used SS trailblazer.

Just so you are being clear... this vehicle doesn't have "Traction Control" it has what they call "ESP" or Electronic Stability Program" that drags the back brakes when you break traction i a straight line and also drags the inside brake when cornering... That is why I have replaced my rear brake pads 2 to 1 over my fronts on my SRT8

the thing is that when a car company/designer makes a car, they specifically design each part to handle the engine that is in the car. this means that each part in the car despite what you said is specifically made to withstand 425 bhp and 410 lb-ft of torque along with the top speed of 150 mph. if you add another 175 bhp to the car, each part (including the traction control system) will be clueless as to how to handle it, and at the top speed of whatever it is now, the car could fall apart.

it is simply a half assed job to stick a supercharger/turbocharger/new engine into a car. when doing this, almost every performance part needs to be changed along with it. doing a real tuning job could actually cost more than just buying a new car. this car is good for drag racing now (as long as it does not reach its top speed) and nothing else. if you dont beileve me, look at the brabus merc sl65, the evo fq400, and the mustang gt500

And yes other parts have to be swapped to (in this situation, a possible new tranny might be needed) but this how highly modified cars work. You build it, break it and build it again.

Lets break down the word Traction Control. Traction or amount of power before wheel spin and control is control. So therefore traction control controls wheel spin.
There are other systems like stability control and other such systems but a traction control only controls traction.
You seriously need to go to school and not watch youtube videos 7 hours a day...

it doesnt just control wheelspin, it controls your whole vehicle when accelerating. when the traction control is on, you can't powerslide around corners, and it will also help keep you from rolling over, things like this. it also controls wheelspin off the line, but this is not its primary purpose.
anyway i don't believe everything i see on the internet, i saw for myself with the brabus sl. look for yourself please so you will stop arguing over nonsense.

As soon as you admit that you were and currently are wrong i will stop arguing. Traction control controls traction... Ford now has RSC (rollover stability control) and that controls rollovers. There are a shit ton of electronic systems that control different aspects of the cars performance and the laws of physics limit the amount of sliding you do not the traction control.
And on a final note, you have never seen a brabus sl nor have you witnessed the effects of traction control on it.
