Plenty of Democrats voted for the war resolution and were part of enabling this war, including Clinton, Kerry, Edwards, and Biden. Hagel also voted for the war resolution. BUT - there were good reasons to vote for that resolution, including a hope that the administration would use it to get UN support and force Saddam to capitulate. More important than the vote, is what these leaders were saying at the time. Hagel was a vocal critic of pre-emptive action in 2002 and 2003 before the war.
