very informative, thanks :D i plan on doing these kinds of shots of my own as well. However, the settings you suggested: do they apply to not only your night shot, but for day shots as well?
The only thing I would ad is that use timer to take the picture. Avoid any type of movement. When it's on timer, your finger is not pressing the button which eliminate any chance of handshake. I use 2 second timer when using tripod.
@714iskate I just googled the 2 cameras you mentioned. Sorry, you can't adjust the shutter speed on those 2 Sony models.
You need a camera that allows you to take pictures on manual mode. Sony does make good entry level advance cameras like Sony DSCH50 or DSCH20. Those cameras will let you take pictures in manual mode.
@alirezvi Yes you can take pictures in manual mode with DSC H55 but the smallest aperture is 8 so your pictures maybe a bit overexposed with longer exposure.
@Nukturnuz because high ISO will give you a lot of noise in your picture, and you can work better with the shutter speed, i mean go lower say 1 or 2 minutes exposure, and your pictures wont be overexposed, it gives you the best quality to work with the lowest ISO
Hey man, nice video, can you tell me, if it is atall possible, how i can change the Shutter Speed on a Fujifilm Finepix S1500, and i really want to take some shots like this, thanks :D
I did a quick google of that camera model, and yes you can change the shutter speed. There should be a full manual mode which will let you set shutter speed. You can also set it to 'Shutter Priority ('S')) which will let you change the shutter speed, while the camera figures out the rest of the settings. So try setting the speed to about 4 seconds as you shoot a roadway, and you should be able to get similar shots.
ah i see.. i was looking for it and i couldn't find anything.. thanks for the advice. and i'll make a video showing you my shots. cool? thanks again :D
@143travieso ah awesome.. yeah i managed to get some good shots, but it took me a while to set everything up, but otherwise, yeah, i got some good shots.
@crisstayeul the controls do depend on your SLR (some advance point & shoots will also let you use it).. you will need to put the camera into Aperture or Manual mode (A or M on the dial) first, and then use the camera's control to reduce the aperture (usually by a dial or through the menu).
If you tell me your camera model i'd be able to be more explicit. just msg me directly if you like. tx!

@Nukturnuz low ISO = Low noise
PhotoExtremist 10 months ago
@Nukturnuz images will have as little noise as possible.
D4RK5iDERS 1 month ago
@Nukturnuz high ISO gives you light in the picture and you don't need that cuz you are using long exposure
iSaadG1994Eqla3 1 month ago
@Nukturnuz you get more noise with longer shutterspeeds..ok prick..do you understand or should i talk to your mother ;)?

you might as well advice to use a remote shutter or a cable shutter. that is to avoid shaking when you press the shutter button.
Then if your lens has a VR or vibration stabilizer shut if off.

Ok, i took a look on the net. So you do have an Aperture mode which will let you play with the aperture value.

@crisstayeul Set your camera to Manual so that you can have the ability to change the Aperture at will.
