I don't have anything against Shaun White as a rider, he's sick and he kills comps. He's far from the best but I don't think you could strictly label anybody the best. I don't agree with the choices he's made sponsorship wise as, especially concerning target. What possible reason could any snowboarder have to take on a fucking department store for a sponsor other than money and free blenders? My respect for him would be way higher if he ditched the kooky corporations.
and no, if I were in his position and were offered X amount of cash to ride for walmart or canadian tire or home depot or something, anything, mountain dew, mcdonalds, I don't think I'd take them up on it unless they were putting money back into the industry. I don't see the validity in supporting companies like that no matter how many zeros are attached. If any pro just rode for fun they'd ditch all their sponsors like scott e. wittlake.
