But I would say that out of the three most common mma skills muay thai, wrestling and bjj, that wrestling is the most important because you can dictate where the fight is going to be, either standing or on the ground. So If you were to face a striking expert with no wrestling/bjj take him down. If you face a bjj expert with no striking make him stand.

I still don't get why people still diss wrestling in MMA. It's a form of combat with rules just like any other discipline Not that I'm a fan of it nor do I expect to see much of it in this fight, but wrestling has to be looked at as something that has to be learned in order to compete well in MIXED Martial Arts. A good striker will put a wrestler out on his ass. Oh yeah, tell it to Dos Santos that wrestling is favored. POW POW! DONE! Wrestling is a great backup skill, but your hands have be good to win. This is why I don't think Ben Henderson will beat Frankie Edgar, hand skills go to Edgar. I doubt he will wrestle a win from Edgar.

It is all about balance. You have to be good in all aspects. Grappling and striking are both critical to be a good mma athlete. But I would say that out of the three most common mma skills muay thai, wrestling and bjj, that wrestling is the most important because you can dictate where the fight is going to be, either standing or on the ground. So If you were to face a striking expert with no wrestling/bjj take him down. If you face a bjj expert with no striking make him stand.
