I have never heard of this guy before and happened upon this track at random.

I grew up listening to Stevie Wonder, and this is the best version of this song that I've heard.  I tend to dislike vocal gymnastics and Giraud was just restrained enough in taking liberty with the song to make it entertaining without going over the top

one of the characteristics of the ''great singer'' is their use of dynamics (loud and soft notes) pop singers or opera... same, not to always push out the tone but to back off and still have control over the tone and the note pitch is a great quality...critics look for that feature in a singer...one volume level in a song is 'amateurish'' at BEST....

OK, I totally understand if your opinion is that Stevie is the best and you feel that Matt ruined the song for you. It's your opinion but how is it plagiarism? It's a cover of Stevie's classic. It's what they do on American Idol. Cover other artist's music to find what works for them. Plagiarism implies that he did this song and tried to pass it off as his original and he did no such thing.

I completely agree with him being way underrated. I mean all the contestants this season have had at least two bad weeks, and imo Matt has only had two bad weeks (Coldplay and the Fray weren't so hot). But when he is on, oh baby, he is on! He should sing Ne-yo's Closer tonight like he did in the group top 36 night b/c he stood out then. He could, as Randy puts it, blow it out da box tonight b/c he can dance really well, and has a suave appeal when he moves onstage. Shake it Matt!
