  • Another great song I grew up with. Every time I hear this song I think of Earl W. from Pico Rivera CA who dedicated this song to me in our teens. I'll never forget... xo

  • 2012 and still listening to it! \m/.

  • Listen to them and start moving is inevitable!

  • The kind of music that you can get down to. Love live the 70's.

  • car crashes and explosions come to mind when I listen to this song.

  • THE 70'S SIMPLY THE BEST TO LISTEN TO MUSIC

  • I was in the infantry and in Vietnam 1970-71. When we came back to the rear area from the bush (stand down), they would often have a band for us. This was one of the songs that they played for us -- and our theme - dreaming about when we would get back to "the world." Get Ready.

    Peace.

  • This is from the days when music was good music.

  • WHEN I WAS TEEN I GOT SEE BAND IN PERSON AMAZING LO IT WILL NEVER FORGET IT RIGHT' ON BRO!

  • like I said-no haters--awesome song-get up-dance and have a good time----dig the sax

  • the funny part is the producers wanted people to think they were a black group. don't ask me lol. check it out for yourselves before ya make a comment..TY...

  • this is awesome, I do like the temptations version more though.

  • BEST SINGING BY A WHITE MAN EVER---I'M WHITE--NO HATERS PLEASE---I COULD LISTEN TO THIS 24/7

  • @31308BabyNoach It dosnt matter if the guy is white he did a damn good job covering the Temptation song. and by the way I'm just happen to be Black peace out bro!.

  • FINALLY SAW WHAT SHAQS SINGING!

  • THIS IS MY FATHERS FAVORITE GROUP, I ALSO HAVE IT AS HIS RINGTONE!

  • Esta pedazo de bestia de canción, volvio Crazy, loco a todo Chile en los 70s, en las esquinas, casas y fiestas....eXCELLENT!! FUN !!

  • All due respect to the mighty Temptations. I always liked Rare Earth's version of "Get Ready" better. It's one of my favorite songs of all time.

  • @chicagocubs1rf Ditto, and I grew up in the 60's listening to all the Motown artists. But, yeah, I like this version, too.

  • lovely song ever!

  • I've always loved this song. Lot's of soul.

  • thumbs up if Battlefield Vietnam brought you back

  • uuuuu!!!! que buennoooo!!!!

  • love the temps; but this one is over the top.

  • I have overlooked this band too long!! The singer's voice is too EPIC!!!

  • They were white!? I had no clue

  • the whole dam album is great. i am 62 years and it's just great. i have also love the fact that peter rivera is still playing and he sounds just wonderful. you have to be in that time zone. it was mostly just radio, 45 records, albums, going to concerts. let me tell you to clean up the house, cooking etc. music always makes time better.

  • @maplebar67 its wierd becasue I did not know peter cetera sang for rare earth i thought he sang with Chicago

  • @maplebar67 Awesome good times... this song brings back soooo many wonderful memories. Making love to my boyfriend, everything that life had to offer. Now I love this with the life I have and plan on introducing the album to my granddaughters! (I'm 57)

  • @maplebar67 I'm just 51 :D but Get Ready was my first rock'n roll LP at 9 or 10 years old, just before I put my hands on Iron Butterfly's In A Gadda Da Vida and soon after Procol Harum's LIVE.And,yes, the whole album is great. We would dance to the whole Get Ready side in parties, such different times free of so much trouble today,I mean worldwide. You're right, music makes time better but time also always makes music better.Last but not , I'd be happy to see this video with the original live sound.

  • My have times have changed...for the worse

  • @BlacknesUnforgivable Are you joking? This is a great cover. You're just saying these things because you're a racist.

  • I feel kinda goofy as well with trying to figure out the voice to the race. How was I to know that Boston was made up of guys from Mongolia and the group Journey was originally from Afghanistan. Go figure. But anyways, I agree that good music is good music, no matter their ethnicity. Here's another true fact, the song "I Left My Heart In San Francisco" was originally sung by a guy in Papua New Guinea. And Blue Suede Shoes is an Eskimo original(sorry Elvis).

  • WONDERFUL WORLD

THIS IS MY FAV SINCE 1977 OR AROUND. THINK OF MY DAYS BACK THEN..

    WISUTHARUNGSRI...KARNCHANABURI....MOO ,MONTREE ME..555..

  • Oh My God!

  • what a classic....

  • Rock on....

  • KEVC21 we are talking about the same shit

    love power and peace

    wish you the best

    from a whitey

  • I grew up in the Detroit area and love the sound...I remember hearing a long time ago that Rare Earth was the first white group singed by Barry Gordy's Motown label....does anyone know if that is fact?

  • This is my all time favorite band of all facets. Peter Rivera has a unique and outrstanding voice and he's one hell of a great drummer. The whole band is excellent.

  • grEat sOng-walang kuPas...

  • estas son canciones!!!!!!!!!

  • Having a drummer that sings like this is like having a shortstop that hits home runs. When I take my last breath, I think I'll miss music the most. And, I'll be thankful that I lived in an era of the best music ever written, recorded and performed.

  • MARAVILLA; esto hay que enseñarle a los chicos desde chiquitos, esto es rock, el resto, todo lo que vino despues, es replica, imitaciones baratas.

Hay que escucharlo de pie !!

  • move the audio track up about six frames to synch it with the video...

  • WAOOOOOOOOOOOWEOWWWWW , ETES VOUS PRET ECLATEZ VOUS A FONDDDDDDDD VERY GOODDDDDDD SIXTIES SEVENTIES THE BEST !!!

  • I LIKE IT ,trop bon tout çà koko ,souvenir souvenir sixties

  • This is fricking amaaaaazing and out of sight! Rare Earth will always be the ultimate rock and roll soul band and are the best!!!! Thanks for this fab post - you are totally on the money dude! ;o)

  • 18 people don't know what good music is.

  • I "LOVE" this song <3!! Seeing the video, I like Pete Rivera's drums... white pearl!! I'm not a "double-tom" man, but the "white pearl" is my favorite!! If you really like this, the "radio edit", then you will LOVE the album version which is a twenty minute "JAM" to end all jams!!

It's on: "A Motown Compact Classic" Rare Earth - Get Ready #MCD09094MD.

    I HIGHLY recommend this album [CD} !! I have spoken!! ;-)

  • I love the way this was played. Rare Earth had a great abliity put put a spin on classic Motown and make it unique.

  • Rare Earth was the first white band signed by MoTown and there new label for white bands. They didn't have a name for it yet so after signing and recording rare Earth they maned the label after the band, thus, Rare Earth Label was named!!

  • so fab

  • haha, I always assumed these guys were black too

  • never understood the "black" "white" sounding thing.A voice doesn't have color

  • @TheDada1963 amen to that but that's how people stereo type people or to justify there prejudice or racist thoughts through that comment sad

  • Comment removed

  • @TheDada1963 Bullshit.

  • @cockyjeremy I call bullshit too. Everybody is predisposed to associate a race and gender with a certain type of voice based on past experiences. No one is immune to this it's just human nature.

  • That´s a Temptations cover!

  • Get ready cause here i come!!!CBG

  • These boys were the signed by motown 70-72 and were the first white group to

    be sucessful.

  • played this song hovering above tikrit in '04 on patrol in a blackhawk. it just felt so right.

  • For years I believed these guys were black! I saw them on a television music show and went Wow!

  • For some down home music, The Ink Spots

    Love it.

  • What an amazing group! I also thought they were so amazing because blacks just have that amazing rhythm. That incomparable amazing beat. Now I am even more amazed that a white group is capable of woe-ing me like that. It just shows ~ Black or White ~ Great Music is Great Music! ;o)

  • פעם היתה מוסיקה כמו שצריך!

  • Still hard to believe they actually played "a concert" in my high school auditorium in '70 the only one I remember that occurred there, Yorktown Senior High School, Arlington, VA.

  • Most likely, the reason you thought these guys were black is because they recorded on the MOWTOWN label. At the time, I think they were the only white band on Mowtown.

  • @JonM11100 they were on the "Rare Earth" record label; a division of Mowtown...

  • @JonM11100 that has nothing to do with it motown is a name a record label it has nothing to do with his voice or singing he's got soul they were a great band that fooled even me if you got it you get it and these guy got it great goodbye

  • Great Music 70s and 80s were killer...

  • questo pezzo è stato la colonna sonora del mio servizio militare quarant'anni fa

  • good shit... like how mj sung smokey`s "who`s lovin you" this too qualify`s under greatest covers... isley bros"hello it`s me" #2

  • Keeping it real I'm Black and this song was and still the shit it's definitely giving the mighty Temptations a serious run........I like this version better

  • he was great ! he can play those drums and sing he has such a stong voice he's got soul a voice like that he could of played with any r&b or soul group then that's personally one of my favorite song of all time!

  • My god!!!!!!!! I was 19!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • waa esta weeno el video tiene cara de volado xD!!

  • Peter Rivera is the man.

  • שיר ענק, חבל שהלהקה הזאת הייתה לתקופה קצרה.

  • First time I heard this was in 1991 in the back of UH-1 flying over the burning oil fields of kuait. The CW4 had this tune pumping threw the head-phones. Kinda fit the time and place.

  • ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I'm 50. I'm black. My whole life I assumed these guys were black - until like 3 minutes ago. If I was white, I'd be red with embarrassment. (I had the same experience a few months back with Groovin on a Sunday Afternoon). Back then, we mostly had radio (not music videos). Good music is good music no matter the race.

  • @kevc21 good for you - there are bands I feel the same way!!

  • @kevc21 Tell em.

  • @kevc21 Hahaha. I'm 45 and white and thought the same thing... Always loved this song but never saw these guys before this.

  • @kevc21 you damn right....Good music is good music.......no matter what race....now get off your ass and dance with me.....................

  • @kevc21 You're gonna like this tooo. They were the 1st white group to sign with MOTOWN.

  • @kpatte1957 Not the first, but the first to have a song that cracked the BILLBOARD 100.

  • LOL.... Just like the rest of us... Rock on dude.

  • @kevc21 Well, it's originally a Smokey Robinson tune done by The Temptations in '66, then covered by Rare Earth in '70... great song in all its versions....

  • @kevc21 dont feel bad i thought jethro tull was black when i was a kid in the 80s

  • @kevc21 You're right man, music trascends racial and any barrier for that. I call it the total equalizer.

  • @kevc21 well said brother---- your right good music bridges that gap---- by the way--- for years i thought SPENCER DAVIS GROUP was all black-- steve winwood was 15 when he recorded gimme some lovin-- ck it out

  • @kevc21 - don't feel bad, the original version was by The Temptations and these guys capture the soul of the original so its easy to make the mistake.

  • @kevc21 That's funny. For years I thought that Tony Joe White, the one who did Polk Salad Annie, was black; but he's white. I also thought that the Foundations, Build Me Up Buttercup, were white, but it turns out the band was white, but the singer was black. I knew the Young Rasclas were white, but Felix Cavalierre did sound black on some songs. Funny stuff.

  • @kevc21 You probably know this, But Get Ready was a cover song of the song first done by the Temptations, who were black.

  • @kevc21 Well, the fact of the matter is that this was a Motown cover. ...and these guys were from Detroit. Great Stuff and Barry Gordy was a genius whom transcended race. 80)

  • @kevc21 Yep......I myself didn't know they were white until I saw the album cover. Lansing, Michigan's finest!

  • @kevc21 Good point.........Reagan thought Hall & Oates were black when they were being considered for an award for the 1985 Liberty Concert fundraiser.

  • I am white and proud that music transcends race!

  • @kevc21 I'm 28 and I also thought these guys were black. I've never seen them before. I'm turning red, haha. I agree. Good music is good music no matter the race. I just picture these guys as black guys for some reason.

  • @kevc21 For years I thought these guys were black too. You're right; good music is good music. Really all that matters. Actually, I think this is one of the highest compliments a white rock/R&B singer can receive-that he or she "sounds black" (without TRYING to sound black-as too many of them did).

  • @kevc21 I'm 50 too and, at least in Chicago, it was common knowledge at the time they were a white rock act w/Motown. And that the Rascals (Groovin; A Beautiful Morning) were white. Regardless, they're great songs! :)

  • @kevc21 Their souls are black !

  • @kevc21 Amen, man!

  • @kevc21 roflmfbfwao!!!!

  • @kevc21 Your not alone I am white I thought these guys were also black. I am 19 and dig this music Id take this over todays crap anytime. I love Funk/Soul/Disco and Motown

  • @kevc21 Well, the original was written by a black band, the temptations, so weren't that far.

(all of this assuming i'm not wrong)

  • @kevc21 Maybe is because this is a cover song from a song of the Tempations. That is a song of black guys :-)

  • @kevc21 This upbeat version of a Temptations tune fooled me, too, for a while. Eddie Brigatti of The Rascals was an accepted "Blue-Eyed Soul" singer in the black community, like Bill Medley. When you got it, you got it.

  • @kevc21 amen to that! just like in '54 people first elvis presley thought he was black but it was just "good music" they thought charley pride was white at first as well.

  • get ready one of my all time favorite pre-teenhood songs Rare earth - great classic band

  • @kevc21 That is too funny! I'm 59,white, and my hubby used to sing this to me when he'd get home from work, back when we were just 19! I thought they were black too until I saw the album cover back then.I KNOW,good is good no matter what color! I love your comment ♥♥ Oh, you do know The Temptations did a version of this FIRST right?? Just askin? LOL

  • @kevc21 It happens to us all...I thought that Hot Child in the City was sang by a chic most of my life! HA

tell me this Nick fella sounds like there is one drop of testosterone in his entire body! At least you can laugh about it!!!

  • @kevc21 Really?? Well my brother had the album so I knew how they looked. But it is true, no matter the race, color or sex. MUSIC WAS BORN WITHOUT THEM, when it is good it is just good. I like this song a lot. Pity to say but it is the only one I know from them. Now with internet I will look for more.

  • @kevc21 Well they are black because the original is by The Temptations... who happen to be all black.

  • @kevc21 One of the rare times where I completely thought they were white. Every other instance of "surprise! they're not black!" I'm surprised, but completely not here.

  • @kevc21 Seriously ? Maybe because you're not from Michigan, specifically the Detroit area. These white guys were signed by Motown records and on the label. I grew up in Detroit and were stunned by the soulfulness of these dudes, awesome live performances as well !

  • Peter had to be concidered one of the greatest drummer singers of the rock era. Super great sound by this group.

  • Good music, IT takes me back to the seventies. Yes oh, those seventies life was alot more simpler. Bill 6/28/11

  • hey! ass why shoulkd color matter!

  • really nice

  • Bad Bad Bad ,Sweet Smooth Beautiful Music Takes Me Back To The Good Old Days When Party Was Nice , Rare Earth Still Sounding Like New .

  • Wow... so they opened for Deep Purple in 1973?

  • Does anyone think this singer sounds like the singer from Danzig when the song starts?? Incredible voice and drummer. I cannot do either...

  • those 16 dislikes should stick to their stupid rap or techno or whatever crap they might like. just dont visit places like these.

  • my mum took a trophy in syria dancing in new yewr

  • A serious feat ! Singing and drumming at the same time ! I know this first hand ! Very thanks for post !!!

  • If I tilt my head sideways and squint, Peter Hoorelbeke kinda looks like He-Man.

  • Open your eye's man.

  • My favorite of the Rare Earth. A drummer that can sing.....that's hot!

  • FOBERO EDO KAI 30 XRONIA

  • The real music,classe!!!

  • Smokey Robinson to Temptations to Rare Earth to Fergie. Quite a legacy, but this one's my fav.

  • I usually only listen to Hip Hop.. But the moment I heard this jam, I was hooked!

Discovered this one like 6 years ago, by playing the video game Battlefield Vietnam.

  • Unforgettable 70's!

  • Nice...... brings me back over 30 years to some of the best music ever. Thank you. Now on to Grand Funk Railroad. Yeah.

  • wow not to sound like a noob all these years totally thought the sing of this tune was a black dude just had it in my mind for sure he was but oh well

  • The best music

    t

  • 12 people aren't ready

  • Fuck ya, nothing in the world makes me feel like you do...watch out baby as here I cum !

  • @rbookin hahhaahaha more soul than Temptations with James Jamerson on bass?? dont think so

  • @JOSUE144000 Bitch, if my clock is correct, the Motherfuckin' WORLD was supposed to come to an end @ 6 p.m. Know what it is now? 2:55 SUNDAY. Quit fuckin' prosletylin'...

  • drumming is SOO out of sync with the video ahah

  • @JOSUE144000 Hey There. Do you really think it's appropriate for you to proselytize right here? If I remember correctly, the last time someone tried to shove religion down our throats was 9.11. You know whow that went...

  • Does anyone who the Dude playing the bongos is? He is the SHIT...

  • This is THE SHIT!!!

  • first concert was RE in 1976 at the Morris Civic in South Bend ,with Styx

  • It's looks so cool when the drummer is the lead singer.

  • wow ,,I had this album in HS and I did'nt really understand what I had ,,does any one know who the 'drummer' was cause he sure 'pounds those skins! Gawdddddddddd I gotta turn my volume up to 10,,,'Rock 'N' Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
