  • I recently started watching LHOP and fell back in love with this wonderful series, especially the Almanzo & Laura storyline. I think this DVD and series would make a wonderful Christmas present for my nephew. Thank you.

  • Almonzo Wilder was a little hottie back in the day...

  • I devoured The Little House series as a child and I still enjoy reading them as an adult. Though I loved all of the books, Farmer Boy was always my favorite. I loved the relationships between the family members. I still watch Little House On The Prairie everyday with my children. There should be more good old-fashioned, wholesome programs on television nowadays. Thank you Mr. Butler, For posting all of these great clips and keeping the Ingalls/Wilder memory alive for the next generation.

  • Deam Butler still looks handsome as he did when he played Almanzo!

I will be traveling to Madison, WI for a personal matter. At the meantime, I would love to visit any museums pertaining to the Ingals and Wilder family.

  • @ShoryoTombo Thank you for your nice compliment. I would recommend all the LIW sites throughout the midwest and northern New York State. You'd also have a great time at Heritage Hill in Green Bay.

    Enjoy...

    Dean B.

  • christopjer james ingalls was here, welcome to the fam wilders......haha,

  • I'd love to order the DVD. We are a homeschooling family & will be using Farmer Boy as part of our lessons this year. The DVD would be a great addition to our curriculum.

  • Make plans to meet Dean Butler this summer and pick up an autographed copy of his DVD documentaries.

Here are a few of his scheduled appearances

May 15, 2010 Holy Family School, Le Roy, NY

July 23-24, 2010 Heritage Hills Historical Park, Green Bay, WI

August 7-8, 2010 Genese Country Village & Museum, Mumford, NY

  • @mickeymousesgirl

The order of Laura's books was LHBW, Farmer Boy, LHOP, Plum Creek, Silver Lake

Long Winter, Little Town, and finally Happy Golden Years. Thanks for writing.

  • @DeanBLegacy You forgot The First Four Years.

  • Awesome !! Thank you so much!!

  • I find it nice that instead of Laura Ingalls Wilder, which is also interested in ... Almanzo Wilder

    Mr. Butler

  • little house is the best ever of TV!

  • and the books to!

  • BIG LHOTP fan here! It always cracked me up when Harriet Oleson would call Almanzo "Zaldamo". Thanks so much for your videos!!!!

  • It's great to see my Grandmother's home displayed with such dignity. I have many fond childhood memories. I was up to visit this past Thanksgiving. when my grandmother lived there the house was white and most of the buildings were gone. I remember the barn burning down in 1966 or there about.

  • So your grandmother lived in Almanzo's childhood house? It's wonderful that this wonderful landmark has been preserved for present and future generations. I'm curious if you have pictures of the home and barn during your grandmother's life there? Thanks for writing.

  • Awesome vid, Dean!

  • beutiful books, i love them. thanks laura !!

  • i like that creek

  • YES! I was right! It Almanzo is pronounced with a short "a." I always thought that Landon had it wrong. When I read it as as a short "a." Also, he called her "Bess," not "Beth," another Landon error (may he rest in peace." THANK YOU, DEAN!" I finally get closure. Big kiss to you.

  • why did he call her bess, i always wondered that...can u tell me

  • her middle name was elizabeth, so the bess/bessie comes from 'beth.'

    :]

  • According to a biography of Laura by Donald Zochert, Almanzo had a sister named Laura and was not especially fond of the name. So he chose Bessie, or Bess as it was shortened, from her middle name.

Just think - if Laura had felt the same about Almanzo's name, we all might have been reading about Jimmy Wilder.

  • @yana1955 Almanzo called Laura...Beth And Laura called Almanzo ..Manly.

  • That is my name!

  • How old are you? I always though Almanzo was a hunk! (the real photo, shown above), and Dean is cute, too ;)

  • how the years have gone by i love little house on the prairie

and dean and melissa did a great job

love little house on the prairie forever and ever and ever

    i will alway

  • i live in france, you would'nt belive how cute you look talking in french!! your on everyday at 12pm on M6.i eat my lunch watching you!!good luck for the future.

  • Oh, this looks wonderful. I liked the idea of the LIW prequels with Caroline, Charlotte, and Martha. (And the sequel with Rose.) I realy wish someone could write more about Charles and Almanzo. I really love that you're doing this, Mr. Butler.

  • You're still a great looking guy Dean. Ever thought of you and Melissa doing a telemovie about their lives on Rocky Ridge Farm. I am sure fans of the show would love to see it. I know I would.

  • ME TOO! I would love to visit Rocky Ridge someday!

  • Heh im related to Almanzo Wilder i think we are cousins

  • How?

  • im not sure i think were long distance cousins somthing we dont know exactly we know were realated but were still investigating it

  • On what side of the family? My Great (not sure how many) Grandfather was Almanzos Grandfather.

  • Just finished rereading Little Town on the Prairie for the 1000th time. What a dashing fellow that Almanzo!;)

Some people have comfort foods, I have books that I like to read on rainy days and the Little House books are among them.

  • I'm not a complete and total freak. Thank you ameliabedelia, your name is another one of these familiar pleasures, I was starting to think that there may have been something wrong with this 32 year old woman who is getting ready to begin yet another summer read of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books.

  • Oh no...I read them all the time and I'm 39!

    My MOM still reads them.

  • hi dean i recently wrote u a letter i figured u couldn't write back because of the movie. thanks again lablover959

  • That´s a wonderful trailer. I´m grown up wirh the Laura Ingall books too. I have read them many times. I´m also fan of the Serie. I wish I could visit some of places, where Laura and Almanzo have lived. But it´s too far away from Denmark, where I live.

Keep up the good work, Dean! :)

  • I went to the Almanzo Farm two years ago. It was very interesting. I'm so happy that people still recognize the Laura Ingalls Wilder history in such large lengths. Thanks For Posting....Joe

  • Wonderful trailer Dean! It captured my interest right away. I can't wait until the DVD's are available. I grew up with LHOTP and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I enjoy reading about Laura and Almanzo. These DVD's will be a wonderful way of learning more about my favorite Pioneer couple. Thanks for sharing it with us. :o)

  • As an educator, I'm thrilled! What a wonderful way to highlight the life of LIW! In today's education there's a constant focus on the use of technology. I am the educational technologist in our building. It is my responsibility to encourage teachers to try different means of technology to supplement their daily lesson plans. Well, I already have the little wheels turning in my mind as to how these DVD's could be used.

  • It would be very exciting to communicate the LIW story in historical terms that would be useful to educators. Thank you for your comments.

    Dean

  • I use to read Laura Ingalls books when i was growing up she and almanzo are proud of you in the heavens :) keep up the nice work

  • Wonderful video Dean, I enjoyed Little House as much as I enjoy watching Anne of Green Gables. LM Montgomery is our Canadian version of L.I. Wilder. As an amateur author, I'm slowly penning a manuscript about what teaching has been like for the last 100 years. History is among my passions, I have a teen and 16 month old twins who I will be home schooling, your video may be among my history teaching tools!! Great trailer, engaging material....can't wait to order the complete broadcast!

  • Thanks for your nice comments. I'm very interested in presenting the program to the home schooling community.

    Dean

  • Laura Ingalls Wilder history has always been my passion. Thank you for sharing this trailer. I will have to purchase the documentary as soon as it is available. • Thank you so much for posting this. I cannot wait to see the whole things!

  • This looks absolutely wonderful! I love history, especially about something that I hold a special place for.

  • Thanks for watching our trailer and I'm very glad you enjoyed it. It goes without saying that Little House holds a very special place in my heart too...Dean
