@tagi3d I thought the same thing. I think if I ever make another one, I'm going to make some improvements to the design and doing something cooler with the main is definitely one of those things.
@TheWoodWhisperer I was thinking cut the end off of a mop ,not a swiffer :-) .....and attach that for the mane. I'm sure your vast array of staining knowledge wiould cover mop strands :-)
Would it make sense to put the saddle on before putting the "saddle sides" on so that the saddle sides could be aligned using the overhang of the saddle? Or when building this is it imperative to add the saddle sides then the saddle seat itself?
Yep, I'll be building one of these for my new grandson. I'll get the pics in before the deadline but I won't be able to get started until after October 15th.
Love your "Yosemite Marc" impression at the end of the video. I wouldn't be able to fold my legs enough to sit on it. There are some advantages to being a smaller person.
@Dibblah1900 Yeah I think so. If you have a very thin one, you can flex it enough so that you are really only making contact at the plug. That would be a real good way to do it once you get into the danger zone with the chisel.
Great little project Marc, I will head over to the web site and get the plans, got a grand son due here in a few weeks, so this looks like a fun winter build. good job as always.

19:10 Couldn't you bevel that face of the saddle side at the angle of the body?

When you had the template on for the mane made me think it would've been good to just glue that on!

You could hang some leather straps around saddle to cover those holes. It would also look nice and you could easily access screws if needed.

If you take a cut playing card and tape it to the flush cut saw, it will raise the saw up a little and won't scratch the surface

Okay, so it will be a boy! \ó/
(now I'm afraid that my girlfriend might end up pregnant if I build one of these, so I'll keep that for later ^^).

Very nice technique with the plugs and the chisel. Would it be possible to get it more flush with a card scraper?
