3-rail is track that has 3 rails. 2 rail has 2 rails on the track.

yeah but when i look at old mth magazines it says 3 rail whistle and 2 rail. i thought they only did that to new premeir

I'm not sure what you mean. The newer premier engines from MTH can operate as both 2 or 3 rail engines. Is that what you mean?

you can order the MTH Premier locos to operate on either 2 rail DC or 3 rail AC. It should say so in the magazine.

what size radius is the outer track and how long of a train can it accomodate?

The outer track is O-81. The middle loop is O-72 and the inner loop is O-63. The longest train I can run on the layout, at least right now, is 50 cars.
