I've been a Jonathan my entire life. Have the book, saw the movie years ago and the Seagulls near me will take crackers (unsalted) from my hand while I stand on my back deck. They seem to be intense but are very gentle and appreciate the snack.

When my father was forced to migrate to the United States following the debacle of an austerity program in the dominican republic, he sent us a tape with the narrated book in spanish. The songs were in engish and translated by spoken word, this song always makes me think of being a child and missing my father.

My mom took us to see it. My mom has passed and listening to this song has brought alot of emotion. It was and still is a beautiful story.

I first heard this story on FEN radio in Tokyo in 1973 - the entire book was nerated by Richard Harris and I have never heard it since. I would love to know if anyone else has heard this version and where I can get a copy. He did such a wonderful job of it.

When I look back to my hang gliding days this was my inspiration as I soared over the slopes of south England. The feeling is still the same and 30 years has not diminished the strength of feeling I have for this track. I actually flew with seagulls alongside my wing for company and I only wish I could have matched their skill and enjoyment of the incredible feeling of being part of this planet we so readily abuse and despise.
