  • Merci pour d'art de Jean-Leon Gerome. I have his"Two Majesties" of the Lion, mesmerized by this painting in Milwaukee Museum of Art,after

    my Beautiful Pekingese,"Parvaneh"-Persian for

'Butterfly', had passed away. It is displayed

in my music studio. - Penny

  • Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

I am sorry your baby passed away. I have had my buddy Ziggy for 17 years and I know it will be like losing a child when he leaves me.

    Peace.

  • The Persian March and Gerome's paintings..a splendid combination! I'd never seen many of these but they were all wonderful. My intro to his work was over 55 years ago in a school book..a b/w repro of his famous gladiatorial work "We Who Are About to Die Salute You". I love his work-- so rich and detailed. Might someday you do a video on the art of Lawrence Alma Tadema? Thanks for sharing your beautiful videos on YOU TUBE.

  • I am happy you enjoyed it, I adore his works and the "Persian March" just sticks in my head.

There is a distinct possibility you will see Tadema here someday, as I find his style and coice of subjects attractive.

Thank you erzbet07, for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it very much!

    Peace.

  • Thanks! :D

  • Thank you Brenda for bringing us Gerome! The finest orientalist painter in my opinion.

  • You are very welcome and thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Peace.

  • Brenda of Ohio: very good choice of music, some wonderful Gerome images. I can smell the hookah and Turkish coffee. (indiscriminately sic)

  • Bouguereau, messioner, Lefevre, Gerome and a few english artist like Tissot, Waterhouse, etc. Thats what 19th century art was all about. Great post thanks.

  • Realism is a favorite! Although surrealism follows close behind. Watch here for Tissot someday, as I adore his paintings of women and flowers. TY 4 your comment!

  • Thanks for the reply. Tissot was an interesting artist. After his lady friend and model passed away he included her in all of his paintings. Also, he was born in a seap so the ships in his pictures all have very acurate rigging. In other words if you see a line, it goes somewhere, etc. super artist. One of my favorite. Thanks again for the post.

  • Jim275,

Ain't that the truth. Yet correct opinion (NY Times) still slimes the lot (indiscrimately) as "kitsch".

  • Genial!!!

  • :)

  • I've only just discovered Gerome, his glorious use of color, mastery of technique and choice of subjects attracted me right away.

  • awesome video mrs. ohio

  • That's Miss Ohio TYVM! :D
