  • he was sooo hot here

  • For all of you Michael Jackson extremist, Michael DID use a pre recording of his voice on every tour AFTER the bad tour (because he danced more), whether you like it or not. The title is not disrespecting Michael Jackson in any way, it was simply highlighting a time when Michael Jackson SUNG everything live with no pre-recorded voices. It's the equivalent to saying, "Back when Michael Jordan was in his prime."

  • @Mikelovision Exactly. I'm a big MJ fan, but he did use pre-recorded vocals AND the original vocals from his albums. LaryngitisIt or not, it is what it is. Doesn't take away from his sucess or talent, but most of his History tour songs & even some of the Dangerous tour was not live. I would prefer to hear a great show live than all the lights & staging. History was ok, but I'd prefer the Bad tour or the Jacksons tours, Victory, Triumph even Destiny. He did sound pretty good on This Is It though

  • @Chon123100 I agree with EVERYTHING you said. I felt the same way. To me, he had too much talent to do the whole lights and staging, even though I would have enjoyed watching the "This Is It" concert live. His vocals live on the Bad Tour and Victory sounds EXACTLY on the record. Hes always in the right key, even when dancing. I will always love this concert, more than his future ones.

  • He sang live in tours and concerts AFTER this, you know.

  • beautiful

  • I love Black Michael jackson. That's how he was when I frist watched he dancing and singing.. It's when I just 4 years oldd. And it makes me remember all the rest of my life

  • 0:40 what would u do if u herd that at night

  • i LOVE his jacket!!!

  • he continued singing live to the very last breath.

  • looks and sounds like live singing to me

  • He sang live in all of his concerts. He lipsynced some songs, like every other artist......not to mention he danced his ass off for 2 hours straight. The Bad tour was followed by the Dangerous and History tours.....he sang live in those, too.

  • @DaNaeMJ93 Jam and Thriller

  • you can't deny he did lipsync or whatever it's called quite a lot in the latter part of his career

you'd have to be completely in denial not to know this

I'm a fan of his work but I'm not going to pretend he always sang live

  • i wish how he was in the video stil alive and here this is it would have been the greatest show on earth and i was lucky enough to see a show from the HIStory tour =(

  • @ 2:30 you can clearly see that he really had vitiligo! Look at his leg.

BTW, that was a real breathtaking performance! <3 Watch the master at work!

  • I'am the hugiest fan in the world, for 30years, but I always hated that he lypsinched so much, that since 1988. James Brown has made it live to the end (...) and so many others performers too.

There 's no good reason to that, really.

That's why this gig is my prefered one.

  • @TheMickSgrill

Actually, there is a very good reason:

It is impossible to combine top level dancing and singing at the same time.

In his early years, he sang live and, did less tiring dancing while singing. When there were no vocals and only music, he would dance more intense.

Later on, he decided to put more effort in the performance and dance through the entire song, thus making him unable to sing live.

For "This is it", he would sing live again, so he danced less while singing.

  • @Spreute

I respect your point of view, but i do not agree at all.

Why lip synching on YANAlone, SIMoscow, HTWorld, MITMirror..?

The most is that when he LS he danced less because of the complete attention he had to the playback and the fact he wanted to hide that.

I would say more : there are many cases he really started dancing when stratin' singin' live - there he felt more free.

  • @TheMickSgrill

who knows why he mimed so much but there's enough clips of him singing live in the 80s and early 90s to watch

concerts are primarily aimed at the people there who bought tickets and most of them are so thrilled just to be there with Michael Jackson so close on stage that they don't care if he doesn't sing all the songs

  • Very very cool this presentation! I really like this time.

  • Jermane, thanks for this video. I understand where you're coming from. I'm a brutal critic of Michael's lip-synching (don't care how many disagree with me or who want to defend MJ to the hilt) during the 90s. Got theories but YT discussions are pretty pointless. Anyway, Michael was a phenomenal live vocalist, which as someone else said is pretty rare for a modern pop artist. While I think the Bad Tour is easily his best overall, the Victory Tour has some sheerly amazing, pitch-perfect vocals.

  • copied from my good friend IAmOnlyLove...shame on you :/

  • @MJsInvincible stfu noob

  • he sang live a lot of times after this. dangerous tour, 30 anniversary, and a bit of the HIStory tour. and other performances.

  • Michael, Michael.... so sad you had to go..... you were, still are and will ALWAYS be the best! I LUV this man! Deeply!

  • You mean when he still sang Thriller live right ? Because he still sang songs live after the Bad tour...Anyways thanks for uploading this :D

  • no man...the title is right...bad tour was 100% live...dangerous was 50% but the history...was 100% playback...i'm a huge huge fan of MJ but after 92 he rarely sung live

  • @DrigerSaphire22 This Is It was live. HIStory he had voice problems and not everything was playback

  • I like the video but i do not like the TITLE.Maybe you should considering to change it cos if someone who is NOT an MJ fan and does not know about MJ work ,see this and may think that he only performed lived when he was during THRILLER era.You know......it is not OK.NO ONE CAN SING AND DANCE LIKE HIM,IN THIS PLANET.Peace!

  • • Michael Jackson sang, the world hoped.

Michael Jackson danced, the world smiled.

Michael Jackson laughed, the world laughed.

Michael Jackson died, the world cried, but sang, danced, laughed because we know that's what he would've wanted.

Michael Jackson was Michael Jackson, and always will be.

  • Like @theone225 said, since whoever made this video says back when he could sing live. He was singing and dancing like Destiny, Victory, Bad Tours. So why are people on here saying it's hard to sing and dance? Really people, HES MICHAEL JACKSON!

  • The truth is that he could ALWAYS sing live. He is probably one of the the greatest singers who can dance at the same time. The reality is that Michael is SUCH a perfectionist that he chooses certain songs to mime because he doesn't want any slight faults in any of is shows. Just one of thousands of reasons why Michael Jackson's shows are the greatest in history.

  • MJ has been singing since we all can remember, and it's common that over a long period of time, and with age that at some point a singers voice may start to deteriorate, or change some. Some singers have surgeries, others use whatever vocal methods that are neccessary to preserve their voices. MJ on the other hand, in TIS movie in rehearsal mode sung his ass off! His voice changed some, but 4 the better. MJ's voice didn't deteriorate, he just did what was neccessary to preserve it. Who wouldn't?

  • haha,repair your title.funny man.

  • @venika781 What he meant was that Michael Jackson lip synced 98% in the later years when he played live.

  • uploaded 11/04/2011....aaaah my birthday is 12/04 :D

  • HE DOES SING LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I could watch Michael performing live all day long and I would not tire of it! Man, he just had such a presence on stage. The king.

  • SO SEXAY!! <33333

  • What beautiful japanese visual effects lol

  • You say it like it's some kind of an insult? He can STILL sing live, watch THIS IS IT.

It get's harder in tours because usually he's very tired.

  • @TheHardwareGeek an insult? did u watch the video? insulting him is futile because his greatness is so obvious. it's useless to deny or make a case against his greatness dude. there is no other pop singer who can sing live with that level of fluidity. no one. especially nowadays when everyone is using voice assist. he got older and he wasn't exactly the healthiest person so he started singing voice assist too. but when he was still singing live, man... it was an honor just to watch

  • that title is really pretty stupid. when i saw "this is it" i was blown away because i've never heard him sing so good before. not even in the 80ies. at one song - beat it, i guess - i wasn't even sure for many seconds whether it's live or not until i heard some different interpretations and pauses during the song. he sang so good because he didn't move too much and had enough breath. in other words: he was still singing live in 2009 and better than ever! (though not dancing as much anymore)

  • @jermane1020 Whats voice assist?

  • @1THETRUTH10 a voice assist is a pre-recorded voice of the singer. their own voice serves as 2nd voice. so when they sing live and, for example, they are short of breath, they can stop singing and people can still hear their voice. many singers use it (i think Pink does not use voice assist and Madonna).

  • @TheHardwareGeek and also he always danced on stage so it's hard to sing and dance for 2 hours at the same time... everybody knows it

  • @TheHardwareGeek Actually..a lot of the singing from TII was filled in and dubbed over by past rehearsal recordings and demo tracks...Kenny Ortega even admitted to it. Michael actually sang very little in the movie, though he planned to sing live during the concerts.

  • @TheHardwareGeek

yes he is but not all the songs man,im a mj fan all through out a 100 percent fan,but sometimes i feel sad if the man cant sing them all in live concert....this is it is a rehearsal

so he needs to do live

  • @TheHardwareGeek and Michael had to sing and dance about 2 hours, so.. :D

  • @TheHardwareGeek

I just can agree! I must say, that he had a bad laryngitis in the HIStory era. It was nearly unpossible to sing live. You can hear at HIStory Tour concerts how he fight with his voice. In 2009, his voice was ready to sing live and you can hear the result in This is It!

  • I Love it........Yes, that's what im talking about.......Live Baby

  • HE'S SOOOO SEXY!
