too damn bad the bears could not keep this team together and ditka could not keep the players minds on track for longer than one season. there's no reason the 85 bears could not have been a dynasty except that they are the bears and they're born to suck. joe montana came into chicago on the coldest day you can imagine in 1988 playoffs and thumped the bears and mcmahon's and ditka's boy's asses to go to a super bowl. that's why the 49ers have 5 super bowl wins and the bears only have 1.
Last time I checked Montana 4 rings, McMahon 1. Walsh 3 rings, Ditka just the 1. You had a great 85 season, but couldn't sustain it. 1 SB championship and done, 26 years later Bears are still searching for number 2.
@ironworkerjeff3 yeah well i noticed you still haven't uploaded the 1984 NFC championship game where the 49ers shut out your bears team. Not even a contest that year
@ironworkerjeff3 yeah well no one ever said Montana was perfect But he sill was better than ANY QB the bears have ever had. BTW, I noticed you still haven't uploaded the 1984 NFC championship game where the 49ers shut out your Bears team. Not even a contest that year.
@ironworkerjeff3 So what, for one measly season the bears were the best team. ONE season? I think we 49ers fans can live with that, in contrast to our team being the team of the Decade.
lol... Hey man it's kinda hard to cap on Joe though... He was one of the best ever.... I just think this Bears team was SO DAM good defensively Joe didn't want to get his collar bone broken... ;]
Interesting note: in the 1984 playoffs, this same 49er team shut out the Bears enroute to winning Super Bowl 19. I don't recall who it was, but one of the 49ers defenders said in a post-game interview, "Next time bring an offense."
After this game, JimMcMahon said in the post-game press conference, "Guess what? We brought our offense." What a beating!
Ya the Bears were never one of the greatest overall teams. But think back to the movie, The Little Giants....... One time. And this was the Bears, one time. No matter who your team is, you cannot deny that the 85' Bears had exceptional talent. Not just one lone outstanding player, but many. Many outstanding players to make one outstanding team.
@GreenJelloStars True, I'm not sayin' the bears weren't a great team. Especially in the1985 season.
For that 1 year they were truly the best in the NFL. No doubt About it. All i am saying is that in the "big picture" they'll be like the 70s Vikings or 90s Bills.Teams, in other words, that were Good, yes!! But never repeated as Champions or even won one to begin with, in the cases i mentioned
You as a Bears fan can have the '83 and '85 regular season wins; we 49ers fans will gladly enjoy the '84 and '88 NFC Championship games win by a total of 51-3. Remember who was the team of the '80s: San Francisco 49ers.
@madrecka The niners NEVER SCORED an offensive TD under the Buddy Ryan's 46 Defense w/McMahon at QB!Amazing, isn't it?The "great" Bill (over-rated)Walsh's stolen-from-Paul Brown's west coast offense!!!!!
@ironworkerjeff3 well at least the 49ers weren't just a one season wonder. talking 2 decades to get back to the super bowl haha bears were just lucky here. Who had the 80s best w-l record? Sure as hell wasn't the shitcago bears. How many super bowls did the shitcago bears win in the 80s? One how many did the niners win 4. Haha you lose The 49ers were the team of the decade & NOT the shitcago bears
@ironworkerjeff3 yeah well this is a regular season game chump. Hows about the 1984 NFC Championship game HUH?? When the "Never scored a single point" Bit was the other way around 49ers 23 Bears 0.
As for Bill Walsh At least he was a 3-time super bowl champion coach unlike Mike Ditka. U R Just a bitter bears fan Mad cuz the Niners were a better team than da bears were. TOO BAD. Reality is a bitch huh
@ironworkerjeff3 Actually, ironwork I think walsh developed that type of offense himself in ohio around 1974, 1975 (was not following football yet back then--read a book titled The Genius:how walsh reinvented football)- written by a calf native named david harris NOT that I wish to take the side of any crass niner fan in this unnecessary debate
@ironworkerjeff3 Nothing more hillarious than a bears fan. Your team shut out the niners ONE YEAR? Big deal, hahaha The bears have one only one super bowl while the niners won 4, well 5 counting the one in 94 with Steve Young. What a laugh riot you bears fans are
@howiehandles No its 2011 I was just answering the person who posted this video and said the Bears of BuddyRyan/and McMahon were teams that the 49ers didn't or couldn't beat. You're very funny dude with your jokes. Who is your team anyway? I know what I'm about son and I don't have to insult you. LOL!!!
get used to this bears fans, the 49ers will always be you daddy.

Everytime Montana was sacked, he just dropped to the turf before any real contact could take place. I smell fear mixed with Vagasil.

@thebryghtidea Ain't that the true?See how good the great Montana was when he faced a REAL defense?
