Bakashibakashi...at about the 30-minute mark he specifically says that the Euro crisis will remain the biggest challenge of the EU's regional policy for the next 5 years...
What planet is this guy living on? The eurozone has crossed the rubicon of collapse, social and economic turmoil is engulfing Greece, Portugal, UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy; meanwhile the President of the EC is self indulgently expounding the virtues of the euro and its currency. Irony? Pat on the back to you Jose.
The euro does work - I paid with it 5 minutes ago;-)
If you ask the Germans, French and others to pay for greek depts, you actually demand not less than much more than the US-government would ever do for California or Florida! So the EU becomes an even more deeply anchored federal state than the USA are by now - not beause we wanted to but because the markets are urging us either let go everything or to save the social rights in our countries.
I think the euro ( money ) doesn't work - when i was in Holland no one wanted the euro, no one voted for the euro, the euro made everything expensive. Having many different countries and money systems is healthy - when one country is not doing well economiclly there is another doing well. Every one wants many different types of people in there land, many different systems and competing businesses working in there country yet on the other hand yet there is a big trend to become the same
Jose Barroso answered questions professionally and well.
