@xbox1768 there is no good ball park because it depends who does it. it could cost a few hundred if a non-plastic surgeon does it or if it is just burned. it could cost over a thousand or more if an expert does it and also if all postoperative care including lasers, 5FU and other management is included in the care for an excellent outcome.
I have just had a mole shaved off my chest in my cleavage area, and it still looks a little brownish in spots to me and of course open and pink..i wanted a line scar..i wanted it closed. can i go back and get them to close it still or is it too late?? and if so, will it leave more scarring? thanks
@samlammd so what would you recommend I do? I wanted it to be almost invisible..i heard some people still do dermabond or something like that. But if they use regular stitches will it scare more for sure than what i have now? Or should i just let it be like this and still have a spot as big if not bigger than my original mole was? thanks for your response :)
@bethany2nirvana obviously i would need to see you to make that determination. however, as i do not work on body areas just face so i really should not be answering this question. i just know that chest areas heal very poorly for mole removals and typically should not be performed unless absolutely necessary. in general, if something is already done then just not interfering with it is the best option. if it is redder or thicker, KTP or pulsed dye laser can help manage it.
and these lasers can also limit keloid formation. 5fu injections can also help if the wound begins to keloid. ask your physician for more of his opinion.
i have a question dr.lam im having a mole next to my nose and im plan to remove it but i dont know how much does it cost.. Also would it given me a scar after i remove it?
1. cost depends on who is doing it. if you want a cost for my mole removal you can email info at lamfacialplastics [dot com]. but i do not remove moles for anyone who does not live in the dallas area because of need for after care. so only email my staff if you live in dallas.
2. yes, there will be a "scar" but hopefully it will be difficult to see. a good mole removal trades a mole for a hopefully difficult to see line or spot.
Hi I'm know were near you but ill like to ask a question i have a rather large raised mole near the eye were the eye closes on the right side can that be removed?
Im so glad I found this video. I have a mole right on the side of my nose and i have a round raised mole. When i went to the dermatologist she told me that if i decided to remove it I will have a scar after and it will be visible. Is there anything you can recommend for me? I really really want this remove my whole life. thank you in advance!
@510hush your dermatologist is right that after an incisional removal there will be a "scar", i.e., a line. the goal is to make that line as difficult to see as possible. that is a compromise you have to determine whether it is worth it in your case.
@hopeapril10 hi, dallas, texas. you can call 972-312-8188. however, i do not remove moles in people that do not live in dallas. there is too much after care to make it warranted.
@samlammd, hey i got a mole removed like 4 years ago, & it was on my face like a lil bit from my nose on my cheek. (ugly place for it) bt the Dr. tht removed it forgot some lil specs on the side of it. & it really bothers me cause ppl think its dirt. Do i go back to the dr or?? HELP ME! ( :
@salgamripper neither. they cause too much reaction and therefore possible scarring. i use tyically 6-0 prolene or 7-0 nylon depending on the area with 5-0 PDS for a deep under the skin suture. the prolene and nylon are removed in a week.
I have a mole that's flat and slightly raised. What happens if it comes back? Would we have to pay extra for you to remove it again?my mole is rather large and on my cheek. Like the size of a pencil eraser and a little bit bigger. How long before you scar and don't see the mole anymore?
@fixatepvpwow obviously i would have to see it but in short what i typically do is burn it until the wound contracts. 3 months later i excise it and then close it in 3 layers. then i dermabrade about 3 to 5 months after that.
I have had this one mole on the left side of my hip for as long as I can remember. Its raised a little more than 1/8 in, and has slight discoloration about 1-3 mm around the border of the raised part. I'm naturally pretty skinny and the mole sits almost perfectly on my hip bone in most natural body positions.
Does this indicate a greater possibility of cancer? Can it be removed if it is so close to the top right of my pelvis, and seems to have no skin underneath?
There are a few I have that have an inconsistent coloring throughout the mole. One part of the mole might be darker than another part. But I haven't had anything such as pain or bleeding, and I've had them for a few years without any change.
I do have a few I'd like to remove on my face for cosmetic reasons. What is the cheapest procedure to remove them? The average cost in NY is about $150+.
Dr. Lam, I didn't know you did mole removals! :D Sorry, I have two questions but about flat moles. I wasn't born with any but over the years (and they continue) I have acquired a couple. Never any raised ones but I have numerous small ones on my face.
So, there's a chance with any technique of mole removal for them to come back, correct? Do facial peels work? Lightening them? (sorry, I know you're not a dermat. but just wondering if you might know) What do you think would be the best technique?
my opinion in general is that yes moles can come back with partial excisions or burning them off. peels do not work. lightening them only after you find out that they are not bad by a dermatologist may help but most likely not. best technique is advised by seeing a doctor in person to let him/her advise appropriately. happy holidays!
Dr I had a mole removed on my cheek area about 2 months ago by scalpel. i was told that it wasnt gonna scar but after 2 months the area turned brownish.how do i minimize that discoloration??
um i need help like when i was little i had my first mole removl i think they didn't use laser i dont rember but it hurt reall bad so i moved it went kindy down then in 08 in summer i removed it again but then like later it came back smaller then this year i had it removeed in summer again but then it gone but there a hole where i removed it should i go and get a 3rd time removal
obviously, i can't give you medical advice. however, if you haven't had it removed by a formal incision, you might want to consider that. obviously, it would depend on the location and safety. that is something i can't answer on youtube. you need to speak with your medical doctor regarding the details.
so meaning doc. there is no possibility of the mole coming back, if the mole was remove? how about shave and laser procedure is their possibility of mole coming back again.?
a mole can come back if it is incompletely removed. obviously, it is impossible to know if the whole mole was removed. shave or laser will have a much higher chance for return compared with cutting it out with an incision. but that leaves a visible line that needs to take time to dissipate or be sanded down to make it less obvious.
hello, i just like to ask about mole removal. i just did go operation about mole removal this year of October 11. then my friend told me that after 4 years the mole will be coming again much bigger than the mole before? is it true? hope you answer my question.
hi. im having a mole removed on my back in 2 weeks and already i am having sleepless nights because of it. im so scared and i hate needles. i dont know what to do. do you have any comforting advice? x x
Dr. Lam I have a big black mole --raised and about a quarter inch in diameter just above my right eyebrow. A plastic surgeon told me that a removal would leave a pretty bad scar. Any thoughts on this assessment? Also, there is another raised mole about half the size of the other, on my upper lip, right below the center of my nose. Is there any hope for these mole removals? Thank you.
i really cannot be dispensing medical advice on youtube. i am just here to give general principles. that is it. sorry that i can't be more instructive in this context.
I just had a mole removed on my face and I have been in some depression. The area where I got ti removed from is more noticeable then the mole. The doctor who did the surgery told me after that it would be like 6 months until I will see everything be some what gone. I felt kinda weird I didnt think it would take so long for it to go away it is just gonna be a month since I got it and its still darker with a little redness.
wish I would have know more about this before hand.
everything in healing is variable. i would encourage you to go back to your doctor to tell him what you see and feel. maybe he can help with some laser treatments or something to make the healing faster. just open dialogue with him (or her).
The last time I saw him he said ok it looks fine I dont have to see you anymore he seemed like whatever about. Just told me in 6 months it should be less visible.
Kinda felt like he just didnt care.
All I know that if in six months it still looks the same I am gonna go and talk to him to see what happened.
Thank you so much for replying felt good to see someone who cares.
You were so helpful before could use some advice? I got my surgery the last week of July this year and we are in the first week of October and something happened all last week it got reddish then last night I was taking a good look at it and started kinda rubbing it and when I squeezed it white stuff came out a lot of it then blood with clear liquid and now the surface it soft not hard like it was the whole time. What do you think I should do? I saw the doctor 2 weeks ago he said it was ok?
i make it a point not to answer questions following another surgeon's procedure. it is not medico-legally safe or appropriate. just ask your surgeon. i'm sorry about that. i have the same rules on my website.
I have developed lots of skin tags while pregnant. I assume it is the excess estrogen that caused this situation. a Could I remove skin tags myself with a 50% TCA application to the tag? How about moles?
it dosent hurt that much with a mole being removed all they does i enject a needle with a poison that makes the mole swolen and eventrually it rises and the doctor gets a razor small one and cuts it of
