Bob Seger was as real as it got, straight up blue-eyed soul. He dominated the airwaves through the late 70's with his music, The Eagles did as well, but it took a band like the Eagles to match what Bob was conquering all by himself as a solo artist, the man had hit after hit!....
This song is one of my FAVORITES! Love his longer hair in this! Reminds me of why i wanted to marry him when i was a young girl even though he was 22 yrs my senior! LOL! Good memories! Thanks for posting!
@teamsleep777 correction! I found a seemingly bootleg dvd named "Face The Promise." It doesn't seem to carry whole concert as you wanted but it has Still The Same and Hollywood Nights live. According to the DVD, the live was in San Diego '78.
@jeffo2448 interesting -- and perhaps accurate -- i tend to list seger amongst my least favorite artists over the past 30+ years, but 'still the same' as one of my favorite songs. go figure.
This is a nice song , I love it ... Even in Mexico we lovet it ..... I have who was born in the same place of bob segre ... well my friend lives in Arizona ...
Part of the fabric of America a voice that is second to none along with substantial writing talent. As famous as he is he still deserves even more respect and notoriety than he already has. Certainly one of the great musicians of our time. Thanks for posting this excellent quality vid from 33 years ago!
Have to disagree with you, Segers hair was MUCH shorter in 1980 this is from 78 - not sure where but NOT 1980. I have pics from Cobo Hall that shows the shorter hair and if you look at the album you will see what I am talking about. Also, this song does not appear on 9 tonight
@sibs4life This isn't from 1980 it's from 1978 during the Stranger in Town tour, and this song never made it on the Nine Tonight CD. Plus Seger's hair was a little bit shorter during the Against the Wind tour. So hate to break it but u are mistaken.
this song is honestly amazing. the first time i heard it i fell in love. it has such a great rhythm and feel to it. bob seger is one great and unforgettable artist :)
Thanks for the post! Luckily he was one of the artists I grew up with! Saw him on many occasions, and his music still moves me! Hats off to the "Ramblin', Gamblin' Man!
I'm 54, and saw Seger on "The Distance Tour" in 1981 I believe, at the L.A. Coliseum. Still have the t-shirt with a pink 56 T-Bird on it . (doesn't fit too good anymore, though)... what a great show. Thanks for the memories!
If anyone can find an old interview Seger did with Bob Costas in the early '90's on Costas' late night talk show 'Later with Bob Costas' there is a FANTASTIC story Bob Costas tells Bob Seger about his father who, no matter how hard he tried, could never shake a terrible gambling addiction, and how years later, after he had died, in a dream, he was walking through a casino on from a distance saw his father at a table crying while in the background 'Still The Same' was playing.
This song brings me back to where I was a lot younger and in the first several years of my marriage. Days that were different but perhaps happier than now (well, I was in my mid 20s, I believe). Always loved this song and wanted to see Seger in concert but never had the chance. This is a great vid you have. Thanks. Look forward seeing some of your others.
There are a few songs, old songs, that just give you that weird feeling, its a good one, inside that make you love them. This is one of them for me, even though it pertains to nothing about me, it just gets to me. <3
This is by far the highest quality live performance on YouTube and I'm retired from the music business. This man needs to release a quality DVD. I Know he has live footage somewhere because he's toured for 40 years!
It's almost eerie how good this is. Anytime I hear these performances it's hard not to get choked up. This video is a classic example. Touches my heart man. I don't know how Seger does it. He hits that chord inside me that no other song writer hits. Whoever posted this you have made this man's day.
Was this not from his " Against The Wind Tour 1980" along with "Hollywood Nights" they were broadcast on British T.V.s Old Grey Whistle Test. >>There is a bootleg tape/dvd one has a machine drone in the background, the other processed by silver stallion is better but high treble, not this quality.Saw him at Wembley 1980 bought the T shirt and appropriated a 4x3 poster on the way out, still have it,and the memory, spent £200 to get there ,worth every penny.
No music reaches right into my soul the way this song and "Hollywood Nights" does. I get emotional hearing them. Thanks for this lovely live performance.
Man, where can I buy this DVD! I didn't think there was any decent video of Segar during this time. His prime? I think so. Awesome. I tell you, I've been waitin' for the next Segar, the next David Lee Roth......etc. as more time goes by, you realize that these guys are irreplaceable one of a kind artists.
my sentiments as well kind of sad here i am 43 years old remember this tune from my earlier years teens and thought back then if i heard this when im older it might spook me a bit i would be grateful to have reached my older years scared at how quick they went by and did they ever fly if you are young and reading this enjoy it while it lasts because your forties are just a blink of the eye away literally a blink of the eye
Guys, this is totally awesome. Iam 48 years old and have been listening to Seger since i was probobly 15 .. The mans got talent for sure. I have seen alot of superstars in concert "live in person in Fayetteville,NC back in the day" so to speak" but never got to see Mr. Bob !!!!! D-san,, Class of 1981....
Bob Seger is the most talented artist ever to have walked this earth. I don't care how much recognition he has gotten, he is still the most underrated artist of all time
I'm 32 and a native Detroiter. I don't know anyone my age from back home that didn't grow up with alot of Seger in the house. Uncle Bob rocks the party!
Live Bullet is the most underrated album of all time. No question.
Awesome! Thank you for sharing! Saw this man at least a dozen times during the 70s and each concert was... literally beyond words... But the memories = Wow!! Again many thanks for this amazing step back in time!
He totally did - and I swear I've never been so happy to have a man's sweat hit me in the face (and everywhere else) during a concert. Being right up front was the only place to be during his shows ♥
This song was such a big hit in Argentina in the late '70s...on and on on the radio. Wouldn't get the lyrics back then, but it didn't matter. Now it sounds so nostalgic..
this is one of my favourite songs to listen and appreciate while driving my car. Great Kickass music. I wish I could hold the pen that wrote this song
I agree with you 100% This song is 30years old and its still as great now as it was then. What music of today will still be played 30 years from now, I wonder?
