I was on The Rock in 1985 ,HQ Btn Comm Co Radio Ptn
I stayed in one of the barracks' directly across from where the video is being taken. Behind us was the EM chow hall ( since moved), and then the world's greatest beach. Did anyone ever explore the caves on base ?
@caldwdo semper FI MARINE well im stationed on camp courtny now and from what i can tell it hasent changed a bit HQBN 3RD MAR DIV its pretty crazy to read all of you guys talking about when you were here i like it but cant wait to come home
Did you film this from the e club steps? They made some pretty good food back in my day. Thanks for posting this video, i enjoyed it. 3rdmardivg4embark
I remember living in those little barracks back in 86-87. They had roaches really bad. Still, I have great memories of my time there. In '87 they closed the messhall for renovations and served all meals at the e-club.
I was stationed here 80-81 brings back a lot of memories funny how pics can be ...I can't remember exact location of my barracks ..but I remember I was with Communications and we shared or barracks with Air Naval Gun Fire Back then ...great times at this base thanks for the pics
Caldwdo, thanks for the video. I live o nCamp Courtney..Actually, I'm here in Iraq for a couple more weeks, but willbe back real soon, You're right, it's real close to paradise.
Semper Fi, Marine. Lots of Marines are seeing their old haunts on Okinawa. Not for long as many Marines and their families will be stationed on Guam in the future.
@2channeltv I was there in 97-98 and I was in HQBN H&S Co. Motot-T Maint. I really miss being in Okinawa. It was probably the best year of my life. Maybe I can go back one day.
I was there in 87-88, and that first squad bay when you start your pan at the beginning was where I lived; I see the ANGLICO barracks next door got torn down. The hill you stood on to film was where the E-Club was and we used to do belly flops when the grass was wet and we felt a strange need to get to the barracks in a hurry!
OMG! It looks the same as when I was there in 1986 -87. The fenced off area was barracks for WM's and E-3/below. I also remember a jet fuel area on the beach. Is that still there?
Holy Moly Great Memories!

I lived at Camp Courtney in 67/68.
We lived in the barracks along the street that
ran from the Main Gate.
We worked at the warehouses in Rex Area.
Lot 50, outside storage, was my area.
We were TAD from Foster.
Thanksmuch

The club is still there, if I had done a 360 degree turn you would have seen the building. I went there a few times for lunch.

Good for you. The camp had changed a lot for me, but then it's been 35 years since my first visit.

Thanks for watching, Marine. It's nice to be noticed in cyberspace. My memories go back 35 years just when the Okinawa was reverted to the Japanese.
