  • this video is great only thing i say is that seems like a lot to cut out and most ppl fail when they cut out so much and actually start doing worse than before because they are so deprived even with the health scare statistics and tactics so my question is how do you deal with a person who fails when they are deprived?

  • I've switched to a totally vegan diet and I feel soooo good. If you eat a healthy vegan diet, because you can be a vegan and still eat unhealthy foods, if you eat a healthy diet you will look in your mirror one day and see this smaller person looking back so fast, and feeling so much better, it took less than a week for me to feel the effect of eating a primarily plant based diet. About two 1/2 weeks when I noticed my clothes were looser. Wonderul loving it!

  • it has been said that some black women thinking eating healthy is "acting white" what a shame, because eating un-healthy is eating like SLAVE

  • @kgrn62 true I had a coworker tell me that I was eating "white people food" when I ate a wrap of veggies sundried tomato and feta cheese!

  • church you tell them

  • I totally agree with StatuesqueOne!! 400% We as black people must start taking our health seriously.

  • You have to cleanse your liver, colon, and gallbladder...that's the first thing. Once you have cleansed your body, now it's time to put healthy foods in your body like more RAW fruits, veggies, water, and lots of green foods (the darker the better no pun intended). You must work out and keep your mind in a positive state because, "as a man thinkenth in his heart so is HE."

  • Oh hello! Have you thought about intellectus 424 diet (do a google search)? Ive heard some great things about it and my work buddy lost tons of weight with it.

  • Can't afford the gym? Walking is free & all you need is 30 minutes a day!

Worried about your hair? Braids look good on all Black women.

Can't get to good produce? Try starting a garden. There are clips, right here on youtube, showing how to grow vegetables Indoors!!!

  • Aldi is a gift to broke-ass Americans. They have really stepped up their game. Yesterday

(12-7-11) I bought: 2 pureheart melons (aka personal melon) for $1.68 each, 3 mangoes for $.79 each, bag of apples for $1.29, 1 bunch of Bananas for .25 per pound, 2 cucumbers for .39 each... OK, It's a long list (& yes I eat meat, too, but cut back). I know that many of our 'hoods' don't have stores which carry good produce, but if you can get to an Aldi, you can eat a lot better. Trust me.

  • PLEASE DO ME A FAVOR EVERYONE...NEXT TIME YOU GO TO THE SUPERMARKET AND JUST OBSERVE THE CONTENT OF PEOPLE BASKET, IT IS SHOCKING TO SEE ALL THE JUNK FOOD YOUNG BLACK MOTHERS LOAD IN THEIR BASKET.....I AM STUNNED MANY DO NOT HAVE VEGGIES,,,MAYBE A BAG OF ONION. IT IS SICKENING !!! JUST CHECK IT OUT NEXT TIME YOU GO TO THE SUPERMARKET.....MANY OF THESE NWOMEN ARE YOUND AND OBESE AND THEIR KIDS ARE SO HYPER THEY TIRE YOU TO JUST WATCH. IT BEGINING TO SEEM THEY ARE NOT FIT FOR MOTHERHOOD.

  • I absolutely agree. One major problem, in black neighborhoods, is the lack of access to groceries where you can buy a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and lean meats. Alot of black folks dont live near a Whole Foods, nor have ready access to them. Most black folks can find a McDonalds or Wendys nearby or an order of pizza just a phone call away

  • Wow. I want to lose weight but all these don't are usually the reason that I don't stick to it. It looks like I am about 12lbs over that charted ideal weight. What am I supposed to eat brown rice and lettuce. No packaged food, everything in the grocery store is packaged, am I supposed to go out and hunt for dinner?

I want to be healthy but if that means, that I can't have a cookie every now and then...

  • Wow, looking at that chart.

I am 5'3" 99lbs. Can't gain a pound no matter what I eat, and I'm a black woman. Thank goodness I still have curves!

  • Be careful not to drink too much water. Over-hydration is more likely to occur than dehydration.

  • With all the overweight folk I see, this needs to be for EVERYBODY. Lol. So serious.

  • I wont pass on a black chick that is "healthy" If she got a big ass and flat stomach wit some big tities, why in gods name should I pass that up?! I could understand if your talking about Monique's weight or that chick from precious. I can't help it I like black women with assets! You can call me a "Pervert or something but I'm just attracted to bw. If they lose their "Assets" why don't I just move to a deserted island cause my shit will stay soft.

  • Ladies all you have to do is make a few lifestyle changes and it will work wonders for your hips.

  • This is a great video for both men and women. I'm a 6'5 male about 205lbs which is at a normal BMI level. I use to weigh in the upper 220's which was not a good look because I'm naturally slim. What did I do...stopped eating pork, drinking soda and other soft drinks and stopped eating all the junk food I use to eat on a regular basis.

  • great post!

  • then eat 500 less calories than the RDA.try to cut out sugar and salt.drink alot of water and replace fatty extras with salads and green veg.try soya protein shakes with soya milk.try chlorella and spirulina powders as a meal replacement if not particularly hungry but you want to get your essential proteins and vitamin.it really isnt as hard as its made out to be.weight loss is in your mind,if you tell yourself you can be a certain weight then you can be that weight.

  • people will look how they want.its up to a person to make the decision to stop overeating.people in general. if you are active then eat a certain amount of calories and i mean good calories and moderate yourself on the stuff that you like but arent particularly good for you.you really do not have to exercise.,thats a myth.unless you are massively obese then you dont.eat the amount of calories needed for you to loose or maintain a certain weight.if youre not active or not particularly active.....

  • wow people there are obese people in every ethnicity! it isnt just black women.

  • get a gym membership ladies. if you cant afford it walk/jog around your neighborhood. eat healthier foods. black kids are becoming obese at such young agesl. its so sad. arent black women tired of tyler perry and martin lawrence making a US laughing stock of them being overwieght?

  • Products that contain High Fructose corn syrup.

  • Hello there! Have you thought about intellectus 424 diet (google it)? Ive heard some great things about it and my cousin lost tons of weight with it.

  • We need to cut out the "we aren't the only ones who are fat" routine. Yes, others are overweight. But no other group in the US is overweight to the degree, number, proportion or percentage as black folks, and as our women are in particular.

Some white women are overweight, but a lot more of them are only over by a few pounds, while black women are notorious for being over by the weight of an entire human being.

Stop the silly comparisons. They only serve to deflect from the real issues.

  • all MSG and gmos

  • Oh hai, Try That new intellectus 424 diet (Google the name). I have lost lots of weight it is awesome.

  • Greetings i would like from you if you don't mind to give me your feedback on the best ways to manage time since i'm gonna make videos on how to manage time like a pro and maybe you can tell me your experince. doesn't matter if you failed or succeded :) by the way check my video to know what i'm talking about ;)

  • OMG..COFFEE too?!?! It makes sense, but SHAT! That hurts...lol I am NOT making light of the message....but some habits need to be broken, and it takes a LOT, and I mean a LOT of will power to do it. I give myself a week, Oh, my coffee....! I love what you are doing...keep it UP!!!

  • Thanks for your contribution for increasing physical and mental health of black women. I am a french reader, and I am purchasing informations and example of black women weight loss succes, and there are rare! You made me thought of all my mistakes. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Keep doing good job

  • black women dont need to lose weight, i love my women 400 pounds or bigger the bigger you are ladies the sexier i want you, pleaSE SIT ON MY FACEEE. LOL

  • I really like your advice on what to eat and how to eat it. I only want to add that if you eat fruit, it should be in limited amounts because it contains sugar; and even though it's not refined sugar, the body still recognizes it as sugar and will react in the same way.

Love your positive message and positive outlook, it's so important for changing your body as well as changing your life!

  • weight doesn't mean too much - it's about health and inches. A woman with 30% body fat at 150 looks different to a woman with 60% body fat at 160. I don't pay attention to the doctors stuff.

  • Great info, thank you. I am struggling with weight loss, but I've made some progress over the past 2 years. Highest weight, 199lbs but now I'm down to 161lb and thats a gain from 158lbs. The hardest part for me is exercise, because I'm very concious about what I eat. Goal at this point is 140lbs, but its seems like the hardest to get to.

  • If they cut out all of those "foods" what r they "left" with? ;-P

i say consistency with the "right" foods are key. Boxers, MMA...etc athletes know this. As Manny Pacqiuo ;-)

As many dietetic "gurus" like Dr. Llila Afrika has stated, it all starts in the the bowel. You have to regulate ur bowels with the right foods and it has to be CONSISTENT!

brown rice (gluten free...for those with gluten issues), sweet yams, mix veggies, black beans, whole grain spaghetti, sweet plantains, egg plant..etc

  • I hate to use the word "diet"! We should call the term "detoxification" or "Cleansing"!!

That's what we do to lose weight! We also have to realize the appetite is coming from us, it's from the discontent demon spirit of gluttony within us it's what we're feeding!

  • Yea, you forgot pork...

  • If you spend most of your life eating only one kind of food switching to another is gonna be hard. So the first thing people have to do is get rid of their expectation of how food is suposed to taste like and start experementing with stuff with an open mind.

I personally cant stand it when people get the samething over and over again. They go to a resteraunt and are too afraid to try somthing new because they think they wont like it and will waste their money.

    Break out of the box.

  • North America in General needs to lose weight.

  • great video. thanks.

  • I agree with you StatuesqueOne. The only issue I have is with the BMI scale. I think it's a little off when it comes to women of color (not by much but enough). I am 5'2" and weigh 140lbs. However, if you were to see me, you wouldn't consider me to be overweight at all. My measurements are 34, 27, 41. In other words, I have big ole budunkadunk. lol I've tried but there's nothing I can do about it. I've done my labs and all my vitals and bloodwork is excellent. That scale is not 4 us.

  • try a no carbs diet for 14 days

  • You are spot-on . Thanks for the video.

  • Excellent video, being creative with our food is a challenge-a fun one.

  • This reminds me of a great Kevin Trudeau book and cd. I want to add the most dairy products are unnecessary for adults. Oh, and never drink tap water. Either buy yourself some distilled water from the store or buy a water distiller for home use. The fluoride in tap water is a poison that builds up in the body. It causes brain damage as well as weight problems.

  • Nothing is wrong with cheese, meats, whole milk. People have been eating that for years and have no gained weight, It's how much you consume of those products. I get vegetables, meats, chicken, and whole milk for whole wheat cereal, strawberries, nuts and sometimes berries in the morning. That holds me for 2 hours in a half--I have a burst of energy too. At lunch, peanut-butter and jam on whole-bread with fruits. Drink water too. On the weekends I cheat, but it's all good.

  • Awesome video!!!

  • That's like me saying that I don't want a broke ass black man who is lazy and then I turn around and get a lazy, broke, white man. The point I'm trying to make is that basically those overweight bw are going to just keep on doing what they're doing because they'll recognize there is a double standard going on.

  • @yvessaintlaurent88

Wait a minute...so to spite Black men, black women are going to choose to be unhealthy, nasty looking and suffer through a life time of health problems?

    Well that's a plan.

  • Even if bw, as a whole, lose weight, it will not change the way bm with negative feelings towards us feel. Let's just say that MOST bw are really overweight (which I doubt), then why would they listen to black men or YOU if the same mutherfuckers running around talking about they don't date black women because they're fat turn around and get a fat ass white woman? Shit makes no sense.

  • @yvessaintlaurent88 - That may be true. But this is a matter of Life and Death, not whether a black man wants black women or white women or anything else. This is about whether they want their arteries clogged with fat or have smooth blood flow. Whether they want to keep their gallbladder or have it removed. Whether they want to pick out a new wardrobe for their slimmer figure or have their family pick out their new coffin. This is a matter of living or dying. Die to spite men? Makes no sense,

  • @yvessaintlaurent88 This didnt have anything to do with what bm think of bw.

    Stick to the subject please.

  • @yvessaintlaurent88 Yawn!! REALLY!!???? Someone posts a video on a black woman's HEALTH- a matter of life and death.. and bitter women come on here slinging the "black men this and that: trash? - what the hell?

I don't think about any man when I think about my health. I think about me. It sounds like you really need to be on a therapists couch! BIT-TER!

  • @yvessaintlaurent88 If your chubby and you lose weight than your doing it for other people. If your obese and you lose weight your doing it for YOU and YOUR health. Screw what these black men think. Do it because you love you.

  • @yvessaintlaurent88 the focus shouldnt be even about what bm or what anyone else think we have to love us! and aslong as we love ourselves who cares what some bm think.. the greatest reward to yourself is good health its about what you think no one but you !

  • @yvessaintlaurent88 Well, when you become fit and healthy...there's a chance that non-black men will take interest. Black women's figures are phenomenal when they are fit. I'm fit and I attract everybody.

  • @MsLotusBlooms PREACH!

  • Diet diversity seems to be the key. vegan burgers typically have a lot of sodium. tofu/soy too much is not good. soy for young boys especially. cleansing is the key, metabolism.

  • Diet diversity seems to be the key. vegan burgers typically have a lot of sodium. tofu/soy too much is not good. soy for young boys especially. cleansing is the key, metabolism.

  • Great Video! When most people think about food it's usually negative but the right food can make you look and feel great. I tell the females in my family instead of putting make-up on and all those expensive face products, change your diet. Water and vegatables daily will make you're skin beautiful. You will have this glow to you.

  • what about boca vegan burgers or morning star..that is all I eat..I haven't had any meat in a year and a half..and I've lost sooo much weight!

  • @KMELIZ21 I like Amy's Kitchen, the Chicago Burger. I don't think its vegan though because I believe it has real cheddar in it, But it is delicious.

  • @KMELIZ21 just make sure there is no soy in what you eat. Soy is estrogen.. it will make you gain weight & grow fibroids.

  • @DaughterofSunlight Thanks for the info. FYI Amy's Kitchen Cheddar Burger (formerly Chicago Burger) ingredients: Organic Mushrooms, Organic Onions, Organic Brown Rice, Organic Bulgur Wheat, Filtered Water, Organic Celery, Organic Carrots, Organic Oats, Organic Wheat Gluten, Cheddar Cheese, Organic Walnuts, Textured Soy Protein Concentrate, Sea Salt, Organic Potatoes, Expeller Pressed High Oleic Safflower and/or Sunflower Oil, Organic Garlic.

    No soy Yaay!!!

  • @DaughterofSunlight Soy itself is not estrogen...soy itself is just a bean like any other bean...it's the chemicals and pesticides and way they ferment the soy that makes it unhealthy. The best bet is organic tofu or tempeh and cook it yourself instead of getting pre-packaged meals such as morningstar. And also eat it in moderation.

  • I actually don't like the BMI calculator at all. It tends to be very inaccurate in certain instances. Like if the person is really short or really tall.

No joke I put Yao Ming on the BMI and he's considered slightly obese. Shaquille Oneal is considered morbidly obese. (Put their weights and heights in, you'll see)

Other than that everything else you said in this video is absolutely on point.

  • @Urhoboman5

    Avoid :

High fructose corn syrup, salt, pork, crisco, mashed potatos, yams, Gary, frosting, icing, Gatorade, MSG, Most beef, canned soups, all things in boxes except maybe cereal, basically "If it's made in a PLANT(factory) spit it out. If it comes from a plant(nature) eat it.

Eat : You pretty much covered everything. I never even heard of some of these. The dried fruit idea is Gold!!!

Are you vegetarian? You live in L.A.?

  • @Urhoboman5

Umm Tofu? Idk, I'm hearing a lot of bad stuff about tofu/ soy milk/ soy etc. Stuff about damaged ovaries and lower sperm counts. I could be wrong.

But yeah this video is very very very good. Peace Statuesque.

P.S. Are you really tall? STATUESQUEone?

  • @Urhoboman5 I am a hard core carnivore, lol. No, I eat fish, chicken, turkey and occasionally lean beef. Some people are advised not to eat soy products, but overall tofu is not bad. I live in Detroit and I am 6' 0' tall.

  • @Urhoboman5 Yes tofu is soy and soy translates into ESTROGEN.. too much estrogen causes Uterine fibroids which we have 50% more than other women.

  • Standing ovation!! Bravo...Excellent video!

  • Excellent video Stat

  • great advice statuesque. Remember yous guys that none of this junk food is going anywhere. Once you loseweight, drop your cholesterol, drop blood pressure, and have regularity, you can have your fav junk food item without it killing you. I know those thoughts that a diet means never eating that "favorite" again keeps a lot of people from starting. It shouldn't.

And it may seem overwhelming but the hardest things is to actually start the diet. Remain aware of why your doing it. it gets EZ

  • Also, don't skip eating to lose. This will only slow your metabolism, which works against what your trying to achieve.

    YOu MUST eat.

Eat smaller portions more regular. maybe 7, 10, 1, 4, 7 eating the foods she suggested. This keeps your metabolism burning calories.

    (BTW Beans R GREAT!)

Don't be fool by fruit drinks - too much sugar, drink water like she said.

Use garlic and Cinnamon on your food when you can. Enhances the taste and provides additional health benefits.

    Now, model to kid

  • Bravo, StatOne! BRA-VO! This presentation was just as touching as it was educational. There are so many things about the human body and how to treat it that so many people just haven't the slightest idea of, and you have done an amazing service of providing both information AND inspiration. As an aside, it IS a disadvantage to note that being able to maintain such a healthy lifestyle IS expensive, but at least places like Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are becoming more readily available. --FJ
  • Thank you to everyone for your wonderful feedback. I appreciate it so much.

  • love your videos you are very informative but its sad because the foods you named are expensive with the exception of the beans a lot of people in poverty are stuck and because of the bad food its effects their mind body and mood. i was looking at a food documentary and the fast food was actually cheaper then buying fruit its sad.

  • @keemkemo07 You are correct. That type of food is expensive. But in my city, I have notice several community gardens and the people are actually taking care of them and being fare with them. They grow all types of vegetables in the vacant lots. I am in Detroit and there are many impoverished neighborhoods and a lot of vacant lots. They are pooling their resources and planting community gardens. We need to do this more and more and grow our own food as well.

  • @StatuesqueOne I Am not overweight but i do have a bit of a big belly is it ok to eat cookies once in a while. Are there organic natural made cookies i can eat. I Agree with everything you say in this video. It is just that why is organic food so expensive.

  • @helvetica777 Yes there are alternatives if you have a cookie craving. Organic Carob Chip Cookies. They taste like chocolate chip cookies, but are not bad for you like chocolate chip cookies. Of course, if you have to have the real thing. 1 or 2 small cookies every once in a while would not hurt. But once you get used to the Carob chip cookies, you won't crave the real thing. We need to start growing our own food.

  • Just started a diet & working out yesterday, thanks for the info

  • It's kinda like what I try to tell alot of women who look at these Cosmoplatian magazines or Victoria Secret magazines,When they put the woman that you see on the cover of those magazines or promoting them for other weight lost programs or pills(For the exception of Weight WATCHERS)Most of those other programs and magazines pick women who are genetically petite and small to represent their covers. Those women did'nt lose weight,They were petite already,So don't follow those magazines Ladies.

  • @chenderson30 Actually, most of those models and actresses are doing what StatuesqueOne said, eating right and exercising, or at least exercising. It doesn't matter how great your genes are, unless you are still growing (in your teens), crap food and inactivity will take its toll. These women take care of themselves and companies pay them to dupe the average (lazy) American into thinking that tthere's a magic weight loss pill. BTW: Petite means short, not slim. You can be petite and obese.

  • @aurianaserena-I agree 100%..You won't get any disagreements from me.

  • This is and excellent video stat,And for the drink 8 glass of water...We all know that a glass is about 8 to 12oz..So instead of concentrating so much on the 8 glasses,You can eliminate half of the 8 glasses,By buying those long neck bottled waters that holds 32 oz of water by keeping the bottle and filling it with water.Drink at least 2 32oz of water a day.that would equal 64 oz...That right their alone is about 8 glasses of 8oz of water.

  • love this vid gud info but reminder even slim ppl shld follow these tips high cholesterol can effect neone wit a poor diet..peace

  • Great video! Im having a hard time with my weight right now.Ive never been git.Never.So Ive always just approached life like, who gives a damn if Im fat.I'm going to be fat and happy. It a great approach until this year when I gained 60 pounds due to stress in 6 months on top of already being morbidly obese. Now I'm 19, Pre-diabetic and I feel HORRIBLE. I used to be much healthier than this. I don't know where to start and my family is 'one of those families' that hinder me.Im stuck.

  • @Jelloxox You said your family hinders you. How so? Do you still live with your parents? Are you able to change your diet or does your parents do the grocery shopping? How are you stuck? Are you able to do moderate exercise (like talking walks or going to the mall and walking?) Do you always deal with stress by eating?

  • @StatuesqueOne I live with my family.Im my great grand parent care takers. Its very stressful thats why I gained 60 pounds in half a year.I used to exercise but I go so busy I made other things a priority.Im suffering because of it.Now Im getting back to my roots but food is still an issue in my home.My family doesnt allow me to shop the way I want. They say eating healthy is to expensive yet we spend about 600 a month on food for 4 people. I honestly dont think they want me to be happy or healthy

  • LMAO, @ 2:00

I know this video was supposed to be serious, but I can't stop laughing at this caption here for some reason.

  • Good Stuff!!!

  • its very expensive to eat healthy foods so the fda is definately against us lol

  • you forgot to mention fiber.......your digestive system has to work a lot harder to digest it.........fat has a much more difficult time sticking if theres lots of fiber.....and the name of the game is calories.......I rarely eat food that has more than 200 calories......and I do intense, military style workouts........

  • @ghost2101 Thanks Ghost

  • Bike ride 8 miles a day plus eating right and then your weight will drop about a pound a day and before you know it, you have done lost 30-50 pounds within a month and keep bike riding for life.

  • @pcmiler2000 Thanks. Good advice

  • @StatuesqueOne You are welcome sista.

  • @pcmiler2000 I agree excercise everyday really does work... I do 90 minutes a day at the gym..and then when I'm done I come home and workout w/ excersie t.v. on comcast...and I only eat 1 meal a day.. might be a little extreme..so I might cut back a little if I get to a size 4..

  • I hear what your saying, but I need my unsalted Cashews. I LOVE THEM. But yes, I will eat them in moderation. Another great video.

  • Thank for making this. Is Essence magazine addressing issues like this? I'm not sure. It's sad that you're on of the few women who tells the women what they need to hear instead of only what they want to hear.

  • @kuunami essence just recently hired a white fashion editor, also ebony's female chairman stepped down. i do recall ebony addressing stuff like this.

  • very informative!

  • This is exactly what we need to hear. We are so overweight. I have two relatives who got Gastric Bypass Surgery, and they've never been happier. Calories in and calories out, to really as easy as diet and exercise.

  • The girl at 1:30, mmmmm, yummi

  • I simply wanted to thank you for your ministry. No doubt it is a ministry that you are doing and I love being able to relate in all your videos.

Its a tremendous work. So congrats!

I immediately loved it when I fell on them!!

I think your impact on the web and more widely on the planet has been well known and noticed.

Believe me. And I will keep promoting u on twitter as well. Thats the way it has be. ... merci pour tous tes efforts.

keep it up lady well done

  • Thank you

  • Sister, great video our people do really eat unhealthy. I want to add that keeping pork out of your diet is essential as well. Some people have a illusion that diet sodas are ok but really all soda is bad. The diet ones are the worst with all those artificial sweeteners. When it comes to salads i always recommend not lettuce but baby spinach leaves. Lettuce makes you retain water which adds to your weight. I seen people who say they don't each much either and really they don't but that's the

  • @theadviseshow problem when you don't eat your body gets in starvation mode so when you do eat it retains everything. People should eat a minimum of 3 meals a day but i recommend 4 to 5 small meals. It speeds up your metabolism to burn fat. My strict diet plan to lose weight can make you lose 5lbs in a week but also it takes 30 min of cardio a day as well. So it can be done because our people are dying every day from preventable diseases

  • @theadviseshow Good advice, Thank you.

  • YOUR LATEST MASTERPIECE IS MOST DEFINITELY FOR THEIR OWN GOOD INDEED.THANK YOU AND KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK.

  • @4LOSTSOULSONLY Thanks

  • Great info. Thank you

  • Your videos on this topic are so important. The last video you made I sent to my niece. I wish our people would get the message. It's so serious. Thank you for doing this.
