Phoenix is an end game nuke with LOW defense. Really, most people will save her for last. Which means the bulk of the fighting rests on the other 2 characters, and if they can't hold out till lvl 5 then phoenix is done for.

I remember something funny that happened with Phoenix in Training Mode. I built her Hyper Meter to Level 5, then killed her. She turned into Dark Phoenix, and when her health went down to 0 and she was snapped back then snapped back in, she didn't die or recover her health! I lol'd so hard!

a lot of phoenixes usually just spam fierce TK shot, taunt afterwards and it pisses me off. However, when i run into a player who has mad combos with her, i am just shocked and congratulate them :P.

@bladenight23 I hate H TK shot spam too. Its the only thing about Phoenix I would say is unbalanced. I don't mind that's its homing but I think that it should be reworked so that its either: 1. automatically destroyed if Phoenix gets hit 2. Not travel as far 3.limit the amount that can be on screen at a time (at least I don't think there's a limit).

How do you do the air tk shot so fast to hit a downed opponent so fast?

I'm trying to pick up phoenix but whenever I try to an air tk shot on a downed opponent, I jump to high and the shot always comes too late

@anitalearn You need to buffer the input before the jump. Input Down, Down-Forward, Forward, then Up-Forward+Light Attack. No need to rush the input. This is called a 'tiger knee' motion, which is also "TK" oddly enough.

Haha, no you don't have to have Healing Sphere on..for Jean to become Dark Pheonix..you need 2 of 2 accomplished requirements...

1. Make sure Jean's Hyper Bar is level 5.

2. Get defeated. (Make sure your Hyper Bar is Level 5 when defeated, Jean will resurruct into Dark Pheonix)

there's a difference between a character who's difficult to use and a character that's difficult to keep alive. look at v-13 from blazblue, meta knight from brawl and the like. they're stupid easy to use but surviving with them is NOT easy. learn the difference between these two, you fucking idiots. phoenix is not as complex as someone like MODOK or spencer, just hard to keep alive

Best tips for using Phoenix:

Don't treat dark phoenix as an upgrade, if you're trying to get her you're a moron. Do work with her before she dies and don't hoard your meter! Using healing can make her last so much longer.

Get good with her if you plan to use her, cause anyone with half a mind will be either focusing to kill her first with snapbacks or killing the rest of your team and running the clock if you have max meter.

Don't rely on x-factor... That's just dumb for any character.

@RandomNPC15 I can't see a reward for her without hoping or counting on using dark phoenix. She's strong as a normal character but her damage and combo ability doesn't offset the fact that she has half the health of the second lowest characters in the game (420,000 vs 800,000). Level 3 X Factor Dark Phoenix is a monster of a force and can chip it's way to victory if need be. If Dark Phoenix ends up not being worthwhile as a strat, I don't think Phoenix will get any use.

@raohthekenoh She's not that bad. With healing field she basically has as much health as an average character which negates that negative for 1 meter (in my experience she has roughly 780k with healing field before the red health is too little to matter.) Meter is way too easy to build to not use it, you can make 1 meter back before healing field ends most of the time.

She's plenty good as a character without Dark, I don't think she'll get much use until people start using healing field =p

@coolguyduke LV3 dark phoenix is insanely fast. You dont even need to cover your teleports w H fireball in LV3 if you go H teleport, down+H XX H teleport, down+H XX H teleport, repeat until they get opened up for a combo when you mix in a low L or low M, H, into launcher. It works as lv 2 dark phoenix as well, although if im lv 2, i probably still have she hulk torpedo assist for an unblockable setup

@coolguyduke i utilize her this way. Aerial combo up your HC meter, switch her out, use other character to rack the HC meter again after transformation, then Xfactor/Teleport combo for deadly damage.

Sadly people only use her for projectile spamming or spamming chip damage in corners.
