  • Awesome vid. I like how you didnt put any lame music in it.

  • baaaaaah

  • I want Nismo to put a street legal version of the VK56DE Nismo! :D

  • the only way to make a GTR competitive , put a V8 in it... to bad it aint pushrod

  • @xb250power No if it was push rod it have to be a big 8.0Lr v12 to get only 600bhp when you can get 4.0lr rotar engines that does the same thing and last longer on the track

  • @namybot this gtr is running a v8. how do u measure the displacement of a rotary engine? do u use mazdas way (that cant be compared to the method of measuring a piston engin, swept volume) or there is a calculation that gives a closer comparison between these 2 engines, which is to roughly times the rotors displacement by 2. so a 4ltr rotor becmes a 8ltr piston engine...

  • @xb250power That doesn't matter power is power no matter which way you get it.

  • @namybot ok so its fair for you to compare a 4ltr (mazdas measure of displacement) with a 8ltr v12? cool. the new viper is a 8.3ltr V10 and produces 600hp factory! thats off the shelf from your dodge dealer, u could push this engine to over 1000hp N/A (if u know what that means). so... and how much hp do F1s put out ? they r V10 and only 2.5ltrs i think, and put out well over 600 hp. so the rotary is a great engine but is it "better" than any other engine? no not really.

  • what I love about this thing is that its the vk56de under the hood the engine from the v8 titan that is beautiful so if you have the money and know what you are doing you could build one yourself to me that's pretty damn cool

  • Paul Ricard?

  • this so amazinggg

  • Interestingly this is the closest Japan ever got to an American V8 Muscle car formula.

They should seriously make a production version of this car.

    Correction

Bore/stroke the VK56DE engine out to 6 liters and then market it.

  • Nissan should consider the VK56DE GT-R combo if they want to keep up with the hp wars between 458 Italia, 911 turbo, and ZR1

  • thats a V8 !!

  • ffs, cant they at least equalize the mono sound on these videos? Trying to watch this video with headphones is a nightmare.

  • SOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!! Silverstone 2010 !! :)))

  • @filippoplar TOOK IT BABY!! muahahah

  • Sick !

  • is it a 6 speed or 7 ?

  • @andrewontiveros 6 speed.

  • um, so the FIA GT version is N/A ?

  • Comment removed

  • It's also a v8.

  • Needs some fuzzy dice on the rearview.

  • and a gun rack..

  • vk45 or vk56???

  • VK56DE

  • sounds like the gear ratios are so short, kinda sounds like it should be in a drag race too me.

  • gear ratios can be changed depends on circuit...

  • can anyone read the speedo?? what was the top speed just curius

  • i think 280-290kmh.. hard to see..

  • that tachometer can't be right

  • Why?

  • To me it sounds wrong ... especially at lower RPMs.

It's like the tacho doesn't follow the sound properly.

  • The transaxles straight cut gears drones out alot of the motors sound when hes off the throttle.

  • 7K rpm out of a v8 isnt shit. F1 motors are v8 and run to about 18.5-19K rpm in races and prob rev to 20K in qualifying.

  • I never said it was a lot :) Even my little Honda revs to 8400 RPM.

F1's don't go over the 19k rev limit, even in qualifying. The 19k rev limit is a rule set by FIA as part of the plans for closing the gap between high-budget and low-budget teams.

  • please read about under square super square and over square engines and you will find the answer for this, for an example i can say mi garden choper puts out 10k rpm its a diferent engine and its desing its totaly diferent at all by the way if you look at fia series exist something named RULES and limit the full potential of the engines to be competitive for the other cars thanks for your reading BFE(by fast engineering)

  • @fastidiosito over square is when the stroke is longer than the width of the piston , it is diffucult 2 get high rpm from over square as piston speed is increased yet crank rotation remains the same, altho these engines are more torquey. the oposite is tru for under square , hi rev low torque. also knowen as long and short stroke

  • @xb250power im agree with you but read what this guy say ))) 7400 isnt that shit my littl honda blabla bla they dont know absolutely nothing about engines thats what img talking about, its not the engines capability to get high rpms only its the full desing of whats the engine for but any way just them talk, cheers

  • they are limited to 18k rpm. otherwise we will see machines that run 22krpm until pistons rods break and pistons fly into the air :)

  • Opps, my bad

Wow, nismo powered Titan/Armada engine. Amazing.

Anthony Davidson as one of the drivers too, good choice.

  • Have a look at Gigawave MotorSport's website. The Cars Spec's are there.

  • Comment removed

  • impressive!!

  • it's th 5.6l v8 out of the armada, some one need to drop that thing in 370z....... 560z f@%^ yeah

  • Actually because the 2010 FIA GT World Champion ship requires engines to be greater than 5 litres than your first guess is actually more accurate.

  • good footage at Paul Ricard

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooow !!!

is that AWD or rear wheel version ???

but engine is still V6 .... it sounds little bit V8 i think!

  • Rear wheel drive, V8 power.

  • its a rwd 5.3l v8

  • sorry its a 4.5l v8

  • Why are people hating on this car? This is a test bed for the GT-R in unknown territory in FIA. Different races have different rules. If you want to see the full potential of the GT-R then you should youtube Super GT Racing in Japan...I have respect for FIA, but you have these 'bloggers' who ballwashes strictly European and American cars, and are disrespectful for what the Japanese has accomplished in the racing world. If you're a true car enthusiast, this is an awesome machine regardless...

  • That's true. Mazda won the 24 hours of Lemans with a rotary engine in the early 90's and they banned it a year after. That was a technological achievement right there.

  • @dissious2005 thats not actualy tru, the rules changed , it affectd all makes, and that mazda was alowd 2 race 100kgs lighter than any other car... good car yes, great car no

  • I for one don't discount what the Japanese have done in and for racing, but by the same token don't discount what Audi can do (more pertaining to your above post - sorry, reached character limit.) I personally think this car is very intriguing but that "purist" in me says it is no GT car, neither is the R35 (or any car) for SuperGT rules.

  • @350z33hr Not to mention the GTR won 1st place already in this FIA GT1 beating lamborghini and Aston martin to the podium..

  • @350z33hr FIA is one piss of shit! That just looking for the money and nothing more!

  • wait til they get this car dialed in, it's gonna fucking own everyone (hopefully lol)

  • I cannot wait for next years GT1 World Championship, hopefully it can return to its popularity when it was along side the ETCC.

  • lol people are funny...its still a good car...

  • i would stop the hating on this car's performance at silverstone. that was its first race, why is everyone expecting it to do better than the current GT1 cars? those Saleens has been there since 01? plus this things made for next years rules. Plus with the budget Nismo is running for this thing, it aint goin nowhere. Plus this is a production based car, not purpose-built. Everyone knows what this car can do in its production form, so hands down this car is a badass wether it does well or not...!

  • Need GTR2 addon!!!

  • did not well at it´s first race... qualifyed as second last car in the GT1 class 5 seconds behind the pole position GT1 a Saleen S7 driven by Karl Wendlinger...in the race it finished 28laps behind the same S7 with rear axle problems.. second last in the GT1/GT2 race

  • It didn't do too bad since its a 2010 spec GT1 car which will be slower than the current 2009 spec GT1 cars.

  • it was 0.7s slower than 2010 GT1 spec Ford GT and finished miles behind it the race... it was beaten during the race by all GT1/GT2 class cars ...I don´t know any good in that performance to call it didn´t do too bad... the same weekend the Audi R8 LMS gave it internatinal race debut in Silverstone FIA Gt3...first race second place, second race second and third place fnish.. thats what I would call not to bad

  • I believe a DNF doesn't actually count as being beaten by all GT1/GT2 cars and miles behind in the race?

Also, I believe didn't do too bad means - It was an OK performance? It wasn't far off the pace and with the FIA always giving success ballast and restrictions, it'll do ok.

  • remember that audi has been in these kind of races for ages

  • Audi has familiarity with FIA. Why don't Audi join Super GT Racing in Japan and see where they turn out...Oh that's right, they don't even exist in that league...

  • You might want to ask yourself 'how many audi's are sold in Japan and is it worth their time to 'race' in a league, in a country where car sales may not be as high as in other countries'...

  • The reason Audi has focused their LMP effort on the U.S. the last ten years was to INCREASE sales, gain a presence among performance car enthusiasts, and most recently to sell North Americans on the idea that diesels are clean, quiet, and fast.

  • I would argue SuperGT regulations are not "GT" regulations. Next, Audi build LMP cars and have only recently started their R8 LMS customer program. Though the R8 LMS is a perfect candidate for 2010 GT1, it is more true to the concept of a GT car than a SuperGT car is. Of course, the new GT1 rules allow for tube frame cars, but a true GT car should be unibody construction, using a power plant out of the road car.

  • @350z33hr - see my previous post..though I don't have ANY hardcore facts, I'm pretty sure Audi doesn't sell enough cars in Japan to warrant the amount of R&D to compete in that particular league, when there's many more leagues in/around Europe..

  • They run a V8 because the turbo engin is penilised too much. They try to keep the cars as even as possible to keep the racing as interesting as possible. And having a turbo on a car is too much of an adventage.

  • production car has a 3.8L TT v6 but they race with a 5.6L v8. doesn't make sence. doesn't prove the production car at all

  • prolly a V8 GTR in the future..?

  • hey bigkckrva, someone were argue about hating GTR.. at ZR1 VS GTR.. Darryl where keep talking too many people..

  • its to meet regulations for that race series, it does not allow forced induction or 4wd

  • someone just got schooled.

  • Comment removed

  • I also thought it needed to use the engine from the road car, I remember BMW getting in trouble when they created the E46 M3 GTR, initially no road going 3 series had the V8 they used.

Maybe that requirement isn't part of the 2010 GT1 regulations, or maybe it means we will see a road going V8 R35 GTR next year??

  • actually the M3 GTR was the first road going M3 with V8

  • WTF!??!?!!

  • But it came about because of the race car, like i said.

  • @99999999999999999931

It's a much better race engine than the 3.8. The chassis is still a GTR, which matters a lot in performance as well.

    That makes sense.

  • I don't like the exaust sound though. Sound more like an american muscle than high rev race car.

  • benvenuta nissan gt-r fatti onore

  • welcome NISMO!

  • Is that bump shifting anything like a tip tronic? clutchless like the CVT??

  • it's a sequential box. tiptronic is still an automatic box. this sequential box is manual base and has a clutch (driver doesn't need to press it however). lol shouldn't really mention tiptronic/CVT in the same sentence with the race type sequential gear box

  • shouldn't but i did. buddy... cvt is the closest you or me is getting to a setup like that. And u say he doesn't need to press it, that's pretty much the same damn thing.

  • Sry i wasn't clear. no need to press clutch when shifting gear, but still need to do it from a stop, like a manual vehicle. these cars will stall if not launch properly (manual gear box). A tiptronic car won't (automatic box). Tiptronic is no more than an ordinary automatic gear box, but with programmed button to change gear (which just using the gear lever will achieve the same results of changing gears at your command).

  • You still need to press clutch when downshifting, but not when upshifting.

  • Left-foot braking is pretty common in GT cars nowadays. Depends on car and often driver preference.

  • before I approach the end of the straight, I do a brake check with my left foot. I don't want to find out my brake doesn't work when I am left with 100meters to the wall.

  • And CVT, well, continuous variable ratio transmission, technically doesn't have a define set of gear ratios. So not the same darn thing. For street, the closest tranny you can get (gear change time wise) will be Porsche PDK, BMW SMGII, Ferrari's F1 box. Tiptronic (created by porsche last decade, but everybody pretty much uses this name nowadays) and CVT (which is not a new concept, had been around for ages) are pretty far away. No offense meant by my original reply.

  • cvt definitely is not the same dang thing as a race sequential box man... :)

  • Love that bump shifter! I need to get one for my vehicle.

  • Yay! Here comes the all Mighty GTR!

  • Yeah buts its barley a GTR,,it has the Vk54, AWD removed,,but it still got great aerodynamics and weight balance..

  • Doesn't that all make it better ? I know it does, but im asking you.

  • not in my opinion it would be good to see how it competes with other cars with it based on its road going version..ATTESA and vr38

  • Didn't Nissan say they were planning of building an engine (modified VR engine) for the new racing gtrs?

  • that would be an interesting sight, however im unsure how the gear box and AWD system will perform under the continuous stress and heat (as in nonstop beating for hours).
