deregulation in this age doesn't work. All those incentives to corporations and large business does not work. Every single company is tighting it belt and layoff workers while keeping a tidy profit. What need to be focused on his regulation of banks and a greater transparency between government and the people. 3 reduce government regulation of the economy,

4 control the money supply to reduce inflation

Reagonomics did have lower marginal tax rates and deregulation however government deficits and spending rose in his administration.

Let's face some facts; unemployment is up, lay offs are going on by the hundreds of thousands, the "stimulus" money has not been spent yet. The states have yet to receive the money. Obama' and Bidens prediction of the economy was very wrong, but trust them on education, health care and the like.

Two thirds of the stimulus money was spent on tax cuts for the middle class and small business, increased unemployment benefits to deal with the larger number of unemployed, and financial bailouts FOR the states. The Recovery Act boosted the economy (as seen now by the boost in the DOW). Jobs can't be created out of thin air: people need to hire you. When the economy is down, no one will hire. When the economy is up, every smart person will hire.

The Recovery Act was supposed to restore the economy (it did), which would in turn increase incentive to hire. Companies will start hiring soon since they now see the economy is stable again.
