The video is just cropped like that. The Canon cameras cannot film in 2.35:1 natively (anamorphic) so you have to crop it in post (which means you are throwing aware some pixels) from the normal 16:9 1080p.

Get a 35mm f 2. 50mm is best for full sensor cameras but the 550d is a small sensor camera so 35mm is ideal for it.

@DefinedART It's kind of lens. 50mm is refering to the focal length, and the 1.8 is referring to the aperture size. I have the same lens, this lens is known for getting a really shallow depth of field, as well as being a pretty cheap lens.

@Crazyskullz Hey, no, the T2i shoots in regular 16x9. It looks like they added the black bars. Adding the bars in post is the cheapest way to get the cinematic look, I admit that I've done it a few times too... haha. But I've never looked into anamorphic lenses, I'm not sure that you can with these kind of cameras, but don't quote me on that! I've never checked. I do photography and video work, so all my lenses work for both.

I want this lens but the obvious flaw is not having the Image Stabilizer(IS) on it. Most test videos seem pretty shaky. I still want it for the low light and depth of field plus's. Thanks for the vid!

@biggyshack Yah, grainyness comes from a higher ISO (and the type of camera you have) but this lens also makes the image more sharp.
