  • thanks for the tips little ocd lol but very good work

  • Fine work, David. Just a note: Many hams have ditched the roll pins in favor of a dab of superglue on the dovetails just before putting them together. The pins sometimes wiggle free and get in the way of the cap connectors, as you mentioned. Of course, it's permanent, but there's not much of a reason to take them apart. Plus, the roll pins are easy to lose.

  • @TeakPhillips - thank you sir!

I was thinking of you when I posted my most recent channel page background image . . . 73!

  • @outatime1955 The 45, 30, and 15 amp connectors all use the same size housing, so yes, they can be interconnected.

  • Where can one order the proper wire for this application? I have wire but not red and black.. Would like to have the correct gauge.

  • would it be wise to just put dabs of super glue ever couple inces of wire instead of having to shrink wrap?

  • Hey Doc, where did you get those wire strippers?

  • @mts0628 - I got the wire strippers many years ago. I have seen the same type at Home Depot and Lowes.

  • @USNERDOC Thank you!

  • Excellent video 73's K4GSC

  • You make an excellent instructor. Thanks.

  • Great Vid and idea! Thanks for sharing Doc!

  • Great video. I distribute 12 vdc from my battery bank to all rooms of my house and I have been looking for a way to terminate and connect. They make wall plates for these that fit a standard electrical box. Solves my dilemma. Thanks for your good work.

  • Awesome skills man... Keep doing what your doing... It's like I always say...

Let's all learn from each other...

  • I love Anderson Power poles, and you have done an amazing job of putting them to use. Heat shrink and strain relief will give these a very long haul. Well done! this video gave me some ideas! thanks

  • Excellent video.

You’ve given lots of detail that will be helpful for those of use using the Powerpole. I especially like your idea of using a whipping stitch for strain relief. I am definitely going to start using that myself.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Great video. I think I will use this method the next time I need to wire anything 12v. Thanks!

  • Nice video. I like the strain relief. I used something like it when I wired my airplane. Thanks Doc.

  • I liked your idea for the strain relief. I've needed something like that many times. Thanks.

  • Nice whipping, great connectors with other hams using the same connector It could be very handy to swap gear

  • Those Powerpoles are the the old school RC electronics connectors, I thought those connectors died out 20 years ago. LoL You should check out the new ones made by Deans they are about a quarter of the size of those and can handle a lot more amps. They are also more secure than the old powerpoles, if I remember right the main reason most the RC guys got away from using them was they came undone all the time.

  • Hey, this is really slick !! I'm planning a 12VDC lighter plug distribution board connected to a stationary battery bank and solar panels/controller and this is just the ticket !!!

  • we could have used some of those when i used to work at the radio station here...

  • Once again Doc first class!!! You make learning enjoyable! It's because of your videos I became a ham. My boys and I ( Nate 8 and Ethan is 7) listened live on Thursday night to Col Doug Wheelock on my Yaesu VX-8. Lets just say I was the man that night. 73 and Semper Fi KB1UVI Jim

  • I'm going to try ti use them to rewire my camper / im trying to go solar and a small generator to be independent so when i take my camper anywhere i don't have to rely on power poles

  • @ernest302 if your using them outside, you might look into weatherpack connectors

whiteproducts (dot) com / connectors (dot ) shtml

  • Brilliant info as always, what size/type wire are you using?

  • Great detailed instruction. These are the new standard for ARES/RACES go stations and showing this video at meetings will be very beneficial. In marine applications we also solder the crimp and coat with "liquid elecrical tape" because of electrolysis and corrosion. Great job.

  • Awesome video. Thanks!

  • Nice info USNERDOC.
