I think the reason why they originally changed this scene in North America was because they didn't want children to think guns could be used so care-freely and shoot him-/herself like that in hopes that one will regenerate. That and I think all the school shootings to that day made that change more plausible.

I appreciate how tastefully the censorship was done in Episodes I and II so much so that I couldn't tell they were censoring it, but Episode III was ridiculous. Especially the scene in Labyrinthos when those crazy realians attacked. In Episode I they showed the inside of Shion's mother's room and there was blood everywhere, but NONE in Episode III when they show it happen... I would have gladly taken a mature rating because it took away from the story.

actually, the ones who censor the games and such, are the original japanese creators of the games. Same with anime (Even the edits that people thought were so stupid in the 4Kids dub for One Piece was done by the original creators of it). Thing is, the Japanese know that America has a lot stricter rules on censorship and the like, so, in order to be able to sell their product to the same target age group for an audience, the original creators censor it, sadly they do too much sometimes though.

I always feel so sad seeing this. Albedo became so afraid when he found out he would never die while everyone else would and he'd be all alone.

Personally, I don't have a preference as to which works for me. I consider this version to make more sense because the other requires applied knowledge of "Oh yeah, Ether attacks...". Plus, who cares if a gun can't do that... In OUR time and space at least. It creates a more poignant impact with the use of a gun.

Whilst I don't have any problems seeing people blow their brains out in a video game, I like the "censored" version better just because it makes more sense. The whole head doesn't just dissapear when someone's shot in the head. Disgusting though the thought may be, you would likely still see a mound of bloody flesh atop the head. Whereas with the energy ball, it's easier to imagine the whole head being blown off.

Actually, I think it makes a lot more sense for him to use an energy ball. Think about it. Why would curators of the facility just let Albedo, or any other URTV for that matter, just walk around with a handgun in their pocket? Plus, I'm pretty sure that when a human being is shot in the head, their entire head doesn't just disappear. Albedo's regenerative abilities would just repair the damage, not construct a brand new head.

It's cheaper to animate it with no head rather than a gory hole dripping with blood and it's less extreme when you change the camera angle to the bloody stone thing. I don't think the energy bal makes sense at all since I'm pretty sure he never uses it in the bos fights. If he did Jr. wouldn't have a head on his shoulders on ep III.

The original script featured an antimatter annihilation of Albedo (that he survived), but that got cut. Canonically, he could only be permanently slain by waveform cancellation (cancelling the waveform that forms his very existence), whether with U-DO, by Rubedo, or Nigredo.
