  • its the resposibility of the parents. they wouldn't let the children watch saw, scream or other violent or horror films and just like those films children can't buy them themselves and the parents should take an intrest in what there child is playing just like what they watch rather than buying them things without any thought of what it contains to keep them quiet.

  • i think these demonic computer games are so disgusting and are training our young to be heartless killers

there's one you play where you gain points for how many times you slap someone - its out of order...this is the Protocols if you ask me ...

  • I love how they decide not to blame the parents. If a child is playing a violent game, it's hardly the developer's fault, is it?

I doubt a parent would hand over an 18+ rated film to their kids, but with games it's okay.

  • @mrbobo978 oh rly?

  • @AceDubsteP Wow, what a well thought out and intelligent response!

  • I play CoD, Fallout and many other violent video games all the time and I think its fun as heck. But when I see actual war footage and like brutality towards people or animals on tv I really hate seeing it. There is a difference between reality an virtual reality. There is a difference between pixels and people.

  • @JAoMC "There is a difference between reality an virtual reality."

There are also differences between you and other people.

  • 100 % correct as usual this man is. Look at the jailed in the usa.

  • Does this mean that people who play Super Mario Kart will go out and nick cars?

I'm afraid George is talking pure unadulterated shite here.

  • I love Galloway, but disagree with his position here.

  • this is ridiculous i remember when i was a kid going with some friends to watch spiderman.....one of my friends then jumped out of a tree in the local park shouting im spiderman.....he broke his leg and was on crutches for the next 6 months......should we ban spidey???

  • I love them.

  • What's that? A professor from the Midwest thinks video games desensitize people to violent imagery? As these alledged "researchers" squander funding on conclusions deficient on consequence, maybe they can answer me a real question using only common sense: Has a video game ever caused a breakdown in an individual's reality testing? I've played GTA IV for extended periods, but never have I gotten into my car in reality, seen someone crossing the road and forgotten that they are living beings!

  • Galloway is a stupid idiot. and he deliberately picked someone who shares his own views.

he wants to ban video cames? what about violent films? should they also be banned?

this reminds me of the exchange between Tarantino and a stupid woman named Jane

  • @mowglee09 "but never have I gotten into my car in reality, seen someone crossing the road and forgotten that they are living beings!"

These studies would not purport that this is what happens.

"Has a video game ever caused a breakdown in an individual's reality testing?"

Clearly, violent video games wouldn't CAUSE someone to go ape shit. The study is concerned with an aggregate desensitization of violence, and how that might make a difference in crime rate at the margin.

  • @mowglee09 You haven't, but people have.
