Well I suppose so, but the guage WAS chosen by an English Royal Commission. The first main lines in Ireland were all on different guages, varying from 4' 8 1/2" to 6' 2"!!
Oh dear me ! You're entitled to your opinion of course, but this isn't a political forum.
Personally I believe that everyone involved in the heritage railway movement disserves immense praise for their hard work and dedication, the GCR being no exception. Because of their devotion to the cause thousands of us "HAPPY" enthusiast gets to enjoy the fruits of their labours.
I believe that anything that is involved with the NRM is trouble. People only see what they want to see, there is more to the NRM than meets the eye.
Dont get me wrong, I believe that the GCR have done a cracking job on her, just pointing out that the last few overhauls havent really been up to standard.
That makes sense! thanks very much i'm heading in that direction at the end of may, hopefully i'll get chance to pop in and see what's going on. i have been once before but it was only a breif visit! Thanks

No I guess with a name like that it wouldn't be that popular over on the Emerald Isle!

Dear LeamingtonSteve, you must be unaware that the railway gauge in Ireland is 5'3 ins, which would make it VERY difficult to run 70013 over there!!

5'3"? That's bloody Irish!

Sorry dimmytimmy, it's an abbreviation for the "Great Central Railway" Loughborough. I'd wholeheartedly recommend a visit.
