very nice replica by southern roadcraft. the only one that is closer to the original is the E.G. Autokraft. Visit the daytonareplicaclub.co.uk webpage to find more information.
it is a beautiful replica Daytona. The curved windshield and side cozy-wings make it look right compared to the kits with flat C3 windscreens. I always preferred the plexiglass covered lights to the pop-ups too. The Jag 12 doesn't scream quit like the columbo 12, but it is a very nice engine that makes this car sound fantastic and puts it many notches above a v8 fitted car. enjoy it!
@cyberdaytona The Chevy V-8s had more horsepower, were lighter, carried the weight closer to the center of the vehicle and are much more reliable and easier to tune. Every other category I guess the jag is better.
@loetzfan / depends on the chevy v8 ... so many replicas and kits used the frame, suspension and drivetrain from a 3rd generation Corvette (C3) and those from the late 1970's only had about 180 horsepower (stock) unless a bit of engine tweaking was done. That was a horrible time of heavy motor detuning by Detroit. I know they are lighter and certainly easier to tune ... but isn't it way cooler to say your car has a V12?
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old PRV Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps EFi and tank clean and rustfree
This is a Replica which had been built by Southern Roadcraft in the UK, cannot be compared with the Mc Burnie replicas. It has a V12 engine and the quality of built is excellent, although the dimensions are not entirely correct.
well you look like you made it! i wish i could be like you.i´m just apoor guy, i work hard for my family! but in the end of the month i hope that my son have enogh to eat... but i always dream of better times!
May I observe that there were full replica cars (engine chassis and bodyshell)but also partly original Daytona spyder examples, which were basically just cut Daytona coupè -
Nice job on the replica. Looks like the Miami Vice car. Even though that car was made from a Vette. That Jag V-12 in this car sounds real close to a Ferrari engine. Ferrari's are beautiful fun cars, but they are so expensive to maintain. You better have a big checkbook or go for a replica. The Daytona was one of last Ferrari's built when Enzo Ferrari was still in charge of the company.
When your hauling ass and doing burnouts typically you want to tear up a real Ferarri. I've been doing research on the 308 GTS. A $1000 for regular maintaince! I'm sure that it's a lot more for the Daytona. Still I like to drive a Ferarri. I bet they're a lot of fun.
Lots of Fiat parts can be substited or Ferrari parts. Triple the cost with the Ferrari name. One tiem in particular is the radiator electric fan. I know.... I have own three Ferrari's. A 308-GTS, Berlinetta and Daytona.
One of the most (if not THE most)incredible machines ever built! (I mean the REAL Daytona Spyder, not any of the replica "garbage trucks" that Ferarri INSISTED on blowing up. Most people (no matter how much money they have) can't even buy the real car so don't even believe half of the nonsense you hear and see regarding this fine automobile. This car is as stable at 175 mph as a new BMW 7 series is at 75 mph!
Miami Vice made this particular Ferrari popular again and it was a replica. I'll take the replica over the original as far as build quality, but as far as investment I will take the $1,500,000 original! lol!
well, this car is a replica, so expect a 1979 or 1980 Chevrolet Corvette Big Block Engine 8-cyl. Stock Daytonas had 12-cyl engines with fluted barrels, giving more of a high pitched light sound compared to this "fat" sound of the 8
Exactly. The real 365 v12 in the Daytonas was just an incredible sounding engine. So complex sounding and beautiful. A symphony of intake, exhaust, cams, valves. Just magnificent! Tom McBurney built the two Miami Vice Daytonas starting with Corvette C3 chassis. You can hear one in full glory in the '70s Gumball Rally movie that Raul Julia was driving.
I just watched that movie today and went on-line to see some videos of the Daytona. The one in the movie was a replica? Bummer. I also heard that Datsun copied the body style when it created the 240Z.
Ooops, I just re-read my post. My mistake, I didn't mean to imply that the Ferrari in Gumball Rally was a fake, that one IS REAL. The Miami Vice Daytonas were replicas. I need to edit my posts before I hit "post". LOL.

@cyberdaytona I do agree that the late 70s 350 motors where criminally underwhelming, and a V12 definitely looks cooler than a V8

Change the title of the video. Entitling your replica video "My Ferrari 365 GTS Daytona" is tantamount to sacrilege!

Replicars actually had some advantages- GM air conditioning and power steering for example- big block Chivvy engine also made beaucoup horses.

I had one of those but I could not steer it with the horn I got driving it, just in case you wanted to know!
