@spikespeigel Right now I have an experimental Linux build that boot into GUI in about 7 seconds from a regular ext2 partition on a regular laptop HDD via GRUB.

well i can boot an old pentium-m in just 17 seconds.
Its not hard to get up to 5 secs in more powerful/recent systems

you fkin lame idiot. LOL! just use the filesystem ext2 and you get 50% more speed. is not only yours, mines boot in 9 sec. ofcourse with xfce. :D

Arch rocks. Mine is booting in about 15 seconds.
@Sk0x90 ain't sure it would be wise to use ext2, I remember I installed something on an ext2 partition and encountered non-recoverable errors after a power failure, no way I can reach it with ext3 or ext4. Any faster and stable FS?
