@FelixDaFeline The router has a very nice QoS built in and works very nicely, Have all the consoles here and having the wife on here pc and mine downloading and doing some gaming on the side no lag at all and smoothing along nicely ...
@patizel1 This router does not have a phone line for ASDSL for instance if you have a 2wire router from a dsl company or a slandered asdsl modem you could still use this as your primary router and just have the other ones set for internet pass-threw. I used to do that with my old 2wire and DIR-655 until I moved to the city and got cable! Also side note if you do not do a internet pass-threw you will have 2 sets of firewalls that could block traffic for like gaming and normal computing ..
best router in my experience for gaming , I went through several exchanges including the linksys e3000 but it overheats badly after 30min of use , I left the NetGear 3700 on all day and it barely gets warm.
Plus the NetGear has a much better user interface and options.
I have this router.. but i dont know if i should have both 5Ghz and the 2.4Ghz ON... or if i should only use 1... and wich one cuz i like it.. but it is hard to open ports... lol thank you for the great video.
@TheAgentAssassin Ok thank you :) I only have the 2.4ghz on should i turn on both of them?... I have my Xbox 360.. and about 2 computers and 2 wifi enable phones... thank you for that reply.
@ManLoKz13 if you're not having any connection issues don't change anything
If you are ...put everything that's closest to the wireless router on 5g and everything that's farther on 2.4ghz
5g has less range but better video streaming , 2.4ghz has awesome range but not as good video streaming , BUT it all depends on distance from the router.
The only real reason you need 5 is if you have a bunch of other devices in the house on the 2.4ghz channel like garage door openers, regular phones etc.
@tito533 You can switch between powersaving, balanced and high preformance. Cant remember what the different states though. Just google for thw router and check it futures :P
i have a NETGEAR wireless-G router WGR614v10 and my room isn't that far from it and it gets 67% and i lagg alot on my PS3 while playing MW2 if i get this will it not lagg while im playing?
@ipodtouchtester let me know if this works gr8 on ur ps3 cuz im having same problems with my current router which is same as yours and its only in next room.
@yvirmani81 yea i got it and it works perfect except when someone uses the computer it goes kinda slow just a little but other than that its perfect so i give it a 8/10
@ipodtouchtester Make sure you use the QOS feature of this router. I have my lan port 1 set as "HIGHEST" priority because my Xbox 360 is connected to it. That means if any other computer is trying to access the router, my Xbox 360 goes through first.
@ipodtouchtester Log into the routers web interface, it is located in the Advanced section on the left, click it and it will give you several options on how to set it up.
@JMEND2A Router should connect to all ISP's, but its best to check with the ISP first just incase. Not sure about green bars in games, as I've said before it depends on your ISP and WiFi layout in your house.
@JMEND2A a router can connect to any isp its the modem that need to be check to see of compatible with the isp, but this is a router so it can connect to any isp fine. the router doesnt cause a green bar in halo, its how good the connection is, you should connect it using Ethernet and that will give it no lag
Like to know ehther this device supports VPN (Connect to Corporate network while at home) ? Many peopls are saying it does n't support. Also does it support bit-torrent to download movies etc?
@sshtty01 I have one myself and it does not support vpn unless you setup the port forwarding to vpn on your desktop ... However I would recommend DD-WRT this router... Despite the risks especially if your are still within your 30 day return policy ... After I DD-WRT mine I was able to setup vpn server right off the router itself in no time at all ... little side note when setting up make sure you put the host name to you dns name, and the domains to the same to keep them on the same network ...
@sshtty01 No vpn on main firmware, dd-wrt fixes it and with the universal plug in play for torrents it auto opens the ports on main firmware and dd-wrt ... its a very nice feature ...
@15shehab It would certainly be a good choice over other routers, especially if you are looking for a good signal strength for wireless. Remember every setup is different, and you should try and test the product before purchasing it if its possible.
@powerfull499 Yeah, my laptop upstairs gets full bars most of the time, and through like 2 walls and a floor. Remember its different for every setup though, and you may not get as good of a signal.
I own this router now and it is sweet. Having a network drive is awesome and being able to access it via the internet is even better. I was worried about getting it because a lot of people on amazon complained about lock ups and such. I've never had a single problem it works just like it should.
No, the Netgear does not include a modem of any description. It's a wireless router with 4 port Gigabit switch. Generally, all-in-one modem/router solutions are shitty.
The norwegian one (WNDR3700-100PES) has an ADSL-"modem" buildt in. I'm just trying to find out if it supports ADSL2+ aswell. I cant think of any wireless routers sold in norway that doesent have modem capabilities actually.
My guess as to the reason of having a separate modem like above is because the ISP wont always release the access data needed to use your own modem, or even force you to use the ISP specific modem to make it easier for them to do customer service and updates.
Seems that the lack of modem is a North American thing, then. The state of broadband/FCC regulation in this country is pathetic compared to other developed countries. People here still think getting a 3Mbit ADSL subscription for $30 a month is a good deal.
Dude, I know no one has suggested one in the comments, but could you PLEASE do a review of this product? It would help me out greatly in trying to upgrade from Wireless G to Wireless N and it would help me to decide whether to get single or dual band.
@Code59656 Sorry, but at the moment I don't have the resources or time to do a thorough review, however if you have any questions about the router feel free to ask in the comments or PM me if its more detailed, and I'll be very happy to help you out :)
The 3700 is like an upgraded version of the 3300 which came out more than a year ago. The 3700 has simultaneous dual-band, meaning you don't have to sacrifice 2.4Ghz 802.11N to output 5.0Ghz 802.11N, which is what happens on the 3300. Also the throughput of the 3700 2.4Ghz is really good, and has higher 'theoretical speeds' than the 3300. It also has a USB share port. I may do a review in the future of the router if enough people request it. Cheers.
The 3300 has a dual band configuration, however if you decide to output 5.0Ghz 802.11N you will not be able to output 2.4Ghz 802.11N simultaneously (you will only be able to have 2.4Ghz 802.11g\802.11b simultaneously). Hence the 3300 not being 'true' simultaneous dual band.
dude i had the router, it runs both simultaneously, i used to run my macbook on 2.4 and my xbox on 5.0
im telling you this is just a more expensive version of the 3300, although it does have a gigabite ethernet port, which im not sure if the 3300 has and has a usb port you say, why it would have that, i have no clue, to back up your lan settings
Listen to those that read the INFO on products. the 3300 is Dual-Band, but not simultaneous. You may think so because of the fast speeds, but you are only running 2.4 Ghz. (Which is two channels to be occupied by your xbox and macbook.)
great......

@ManLoKz13 Depends I turn off the 5GHZ almost all the time as the 2.4ghz range is outstanding (always full bars).
Depends on what's connected to the router if you're streaming HD movies to a TV or 360 then use the 5ghz and check-mark the video streaming box.
But really we need to know more about what your set up is.
It's super easy to turn off either band in the router config
