On a Big Pike like that ou shouldn't be holding it by those clamps. That causes severe stress on the fish and can alter its jaw positioning!!

I know... But pike was already dead. And guide said that it's for the citchen.

Very effective lure for post\spawn period, when northern hangs near shallow banks with warm water (+14+18 celsium). Fish hangs on 1-3 meter deep and controls the surface for big slow prey .

I fish every spring in May in Novgorod (600 km to south from Moscow).

And of course there is a leader - Invisible fluorocarbon 35 cm test 80 lbs.

@Jerkbaitru does the paint chip off easily on the bbz-1 when pike fishing?

No. I would say the paint is good. Score 4 (from 1 to 5). Mostly damaged by hooks.

But the tail... Sometime if lucky it survived well after 5-10 pikes... But sometime 1 pike could tear it apart.

Awesome, just got a 6' BBZ 1 in perch I want to use for pike- that's what I want to see! Were you targeting northerns- I don't see a leader on the line?

our guide said that gills has lethal damages and took it with him to kitchen..

P.S. I don't eat fish. So C&R is what I practice in all cases. Only when it's dead I prefere not to throw it back but to give to somebody.
