HUGE fan of this song. Even though this was a number 25 hit for George in the US in 1990, this had the same producer that produced Shannon's 1984 smash "Give Me Tonight" which why this sounds like it was from the mid-80s.
that was my first concert in imperial valley, california back in 1990, him in other artists, johnny o,stebie b,kid frost, mellon main ice,de lanair ,,that was a blast see all this people toogether,...i feel bad couse my friend couldnt make it,,,i went to see them from mexicali, bcn, to el centro california
@TolitoGangster - When did I say Latinos BECAME Black. That doesn't even make sense. Lol. You ain't telling me nothing I don't already know since I'm Puerto Rican from NYC & saw the creation of Hip Hop & Freestyle 1st hand.
@LaTainaIndia true dat.you are correct, that comment was made for smeone else sorry, love you lots my beautiful Latina Native Indian Boricua queen, much love, that other post was meant for someone else, sorry :)
my point is, George Lamond never got recognition like some of these piece of crap so-called musician's of today! the racist MEDIA didn't give it more exposure, this kind of music was played mainly at the clubs and on the weekends. A lot shit today is annoying by any standards and we have to constantly hear it in the radio's and commercials.
Time has past good times doont last forever, The best thing we can do is play what we enjoyed and never forget I hear you 420nesty I 52 use to go 2 the Fun House with the home boys every weekend I from the Bronx chillout.
New Years Eve 1991 stood in line to see George perform, my husband got us kicked out minutes before he was to perform by fighting with a bouncer. I never let him forget that I missed George because of him
We were trend seters back then along with the new york city breakers we were in smash force, had the love , the passion , we reinvented the well well everyone wanted to dance , music was pure , now were forced to listen to this poison they call music ,, idiots cant even dance a good salsa clip cous it actually takes talent now they just want to rub ass week sticks we dont need to
@mutedisease It's better than the fake hiphop r&b of today and the wack rock music of today and dreadful dance music of today,I'm a real man that listens to real music not the stupid ass stuff jibronis like you listen to these days, you can take the music of today and stick it up your candy ass,Im old enough to know that George LaMond is one of the greatest music artists in music history worldwide,I just miss real music like this being on the radio,on MTV and VH1.
@TolitoGangster ...I don't give a rat's ass if you're a real man or a freaking transexual who goes out dancing in platforms every saturday night. Point is I was making an opinion that this I personally find this song to be rather chessy. Even so, I would still choose it over all the crap that radio and VEVO shove down our throats. I won't even bring MTV to the picture because in case your retarded sense of social inferiority haven't noticed, MTV stopped playing music more than a decade ago.
@mutedisease You are the cheesy transexual who goes out dancing in platforms every saturday night, this song is not cheesy, you are cheesy, this is a classic Latino dance music song,it's a classic Latino hiphop song, this music has real soul, real flavor and it's real music made by some of the most talented people in the music industry,it's better than all the garbage of today, you just hate to admit that even the best music of today cant even compare to the hit music that came out 20 years ago.
I remember this on Q-94 (Richmond, VA) back in the 90s when they USED to play Real Music, than what is played these days. Corporate mandated playlists so no requests will be accepted like radio stations used to do when the listening audience was THE "Marketing Dept."
@dammes7 I'm 29 years old pay attention to his hair, moves, down to his shoe's , He was straight copying off of Vanilla Ice !!! Are you even old enough to remember these days son !
This was real music, it never came back, 2 generations ago, time flies, it feels like only yesterday I was in Highschool listening to this song. Todays garbage hip hop and all that other reggeton crap doesn't come close to this good music.
It was only # 25 on the Billboard chart, and didn't even hit # 1 on the dance/ club chart (and should have). I thought it was a great song back then, and still do today
i dont understand how freestyle was overlooked by the majority of listeners on contemporary radio in those days, my only guess is that MOST whites and blacks didnt listen(which is fact) to this, just the VERY minority latinos who didnt get recognition in those days(80s) and was eventually forgotten... but that was then, shit, we have a huge presence now we need to bring this back!!! we need an identity again and stop acting like somebody we are not!
@mystrol3 Sometime in the early "90's Hispanics became Black, adopting hip hop, the way they talk, almost everything! Puerto Rican New Yorkers and Italian American Guidos rocked out to this though!
@justinjonn - Because we were just as much a part of Hip Hop's conception as Blacks were. It was create din the slums of NYC. The people in thiose slums were Black & Puerto Rican. Puerto Ricans had Bboy-ing, uprockin' & breakdancing & graffiti on lock. We also rapped. Then sumhow, we got pushed out of the genre & fell to the background. What we created after was Freestyle; an urban synthesized sound incorporating latin rhythms/instruments. It was big & it was ours but like disco, dissolved.
@LaTainaIndia wrong! no the problem was that a lot of the listeners were NOT LATINO! and of course "nobody" wants to hear what they play. oh yeah? but "everyone" wants to hear EVERY SHIT they play in the radio today right? hell no! freestyle had a club up style beat with smooth lyrics. explain this to me, why are all the old bands; bon jovi, guns n roses still selling out concerts and the most of the newer bands are not? because it's SHIT FOR YOUR EARS MUSIC!
@justinjonn Hispanics did not become black,Hispanics mostly like freestyle, reggaeton, bachata,Latino pop, salsa, merengue, cumbia and rock en espanol,Latinos created hiphop rap music,it was created by puerto rican and dominicans and black americans that lived in the south bronx, rap was first performed at the fever night club, the same night club where freestyle dance music began, what happened was the radio stations started playing less music and changed radio formats to a few songs.
@mystrol3 ..i agree we do, we were shedding light on the ghetto while everyone else was talking about gun and drugs, hey i recall the Guidos (italians) loved freestyle too i grew up in woodhaven, clendale, east new york and a lot of italian teens used to pump freestyle
@mystrol3 I'm as white as it gets... and I LIVED for this music..and i was only 7 when I started listening to this. Maybe it was because at that time, my family didnt have much money, so we lived in primarily Latino communities...so this wonderful music was played loud and often. But either way.... even us whities enjoyed and still do enjoy this wonderful music. This should have been the music to represent the late 80's early to mid 90's. But thats just my 2 cents :)
EVERYBODY was rockin spanish freestyle- the Dominicans, the albanians, the russians, the turks, greeks, white trash, black people... everybody and anybody who was in the club
I totally agree. those were the days when they did not make millions off a single record!! wasn't it Hot 103 back in the day....the only ny station that played freestyle. i lost interest when they blended other music under freestyle....when it was more..."white"...for better lack of words....more pop/techno...type.
this video was ahead of its game back in the day...it still looks good...whats great you see the dance! it'll make you sweat!!! lol
@mystrol3 freestyle was also huge in the italian communities........a lot of Italian restaurants that turn into lounges at night have events for freestyle music
The record executives didnt want the Latinos to take over their already heavily invested music genres and AMERICA will NEVER EVER give Latinos any credit.
Look at immigration they talk about it like immigrants just come to fuck this country up, when in reality, the Latino population keep shit clean and working in order.
Look at that town in Ohio after the immigration rai, now they are hurting cause whites who are unemployed dont want to do the dirty jobs.

George LaMond sold millions of albums worldwide,he toured around the world with his great music,he is a real music artist that sings real music, this is real music, this song was a big number one dance music hit and a top 40 hit on the Billboard music charts here in the United States that was also a big top 40 music hit worldwide, this is the greatest song in music history worldwide,he is the greatest music artist in music history worldwide :)
@bnegs521 The music industry says it's losing money because of piracy, that's not true. The real reason is because today's music is awful and people like myself would not buy it. I only support professional singers like of course George LaMond,Stevie B,Marc Anthony,Jaci Velasquez,Rachael Lampa,Barrio Boyzz,Lisette Melendez,The Cover Girls,Expose,Don Henley,The Eagles,Keith Sweat,New Edition,George Michael,Phil Collins,Journey,Foreigner,Bryan Adams,REAL MUSIC! Real music from real people!
@TolitoGangster that's right!! explain to me this, why are the old band like bon jovi and guns and roses etc... still selling concerts but the newer band are not? because most people know good music when they hear it!
@bnegs521 George LaMond continues to record and sell millions of albums long after alot of the pop artists of the 80s and 90s have gone away, the music industry was alot more sucessful and made alot more money in the 90s and early 2000s when it supported real music artists like George LaMond instead of the one hit wonder ringtone pop music stars of today, this song is real music,it's got a great message, great vocals, great music played by talented musicians,it's real music
@TolitoGangster I hear ya man. I also like real music and people who can actually sing. Even though LeMond only had one commercial hit he can sing. Your praise was so thick I had to just pull your chain a bit but you are a bit testy. It is all good though.
@bnegs521 I'm not his mother,I'm a real man that listens to real music not the stupid ass stuff jibronis like you listen to these days, you can take the music of today and stick it up your candy ass,Im old enough to know that George LaMond is one of the greatest music artists in music history worldwide,I just miss real music like this being on the radio,on MTV and VH1,we need today's music artists making this kind of music,in this age we are in desperate need of more real music artists
@TolitoGangster the music industry is dying and starving for better music, this poison laced bubble shit they play is diarrhea for your ears and head!
@bnegs521 It's all good man,GOD bless you,LaMond had number one Latino music hits on the Billboard charts,he had a number one and top 10 dance music hits,he had a few HOT 100 hits and a top 40 hit in Bad Of The Heart,he continued to record albums for Sony music until 2006,he is one of the few music artists today signed to a record label Robbins entertainment,he continues to tour around the world,in these hard times for the music industry he has done very well and survived,we need more real music
George Lamond The Man With The Golden Voice! No one in freestyle could come close to having a voice like George. Even live this man is incredible. Much Respect to George and Coro he also killed it live.
@Boriquenmamichula he is actually doing pretty damn good lol...i saw him perform not to long ago in brooklyn...he still tours and the man can still bring it live....also he has a song out thats pretty big in the charts called don't stop believing...check it out
@tempeztad I REALLY doubt girls (or do you mean women?) were hotter then and less bitchy. A whole 20 years have passed, quite a bit shorter than even microevolution can occur...
You have my donation too! Count me in as well perpetual61! :-)
I want to go back and not be here in 2011! Freestyle was and "IS" THE MUSIC to this day and always will be in my book and George will always be the #1 KING of Freestyle!!! You go George!!! :-)

@TolitoGangster the music industry is dying and starving for better music, this poison laced bubble shit they play is diarrhea for your ears and head!
mystrol3 2 months ago
@bnegs521 It's all good man,GOD bless you,LaMond had number one Latino music hits on the Billboard charts,he had a number one and top 10 dance music hits,he had a few HOT 100 hits and a top 40 hit in Bad Of The Heart,he continued to record albums for Sony music until 2006,he is one of the few music artists today signed to a record label Robbins entertainment,he continues to tour around the world,in these hard times for the music industry he has done very well and survived,we need more real music

Anyone care to remember how girls were back there? Damn alot hotter than today and less bitchy
tempeztad 11 months ago
@tempeztad I REALLY doubt girls (or do you mean women?) were hotter then and less bitchy. A whole 20 years have passed, quite a bit shorter than even microevolution can occur...
