I like the song, but not the singer at all.

This song is emotional, but the singer's high-pitched and histrionic voice makes it difficult for an ordinary middle-class, down to earth, Southerner to empathize with it.

Face it, no guy we know of in real life talks or sings like this singer. Listening to this singer sing is like me trying to understand the anguish of a rich girl pouting that "she has nothing to wear" and along those lines.
